| How to stop a program from loading at Startup Programs starting automatically when Windows starts may have icons in the Startup group. Icons in the Startup group are automatically run whenever Windows Starts. Right-click on the Start button then choose Open. Double-click the Programs icon then double-click the Startup icon. Delete the icons for any programs you don't want to start automatically with Windows. If the program doesn't have an icon in the Startup group, it may be listed in the win.ini file. Click the Start button then choose Run... Type SYSEDIT and press <Enter>. Click the title bar of the Win.ini file. Near the top of the file you will see two lines that start like this: LOAD= RUN= Programs listed after the equal signs are run automatically when Windows starts. Delete the listings for any programs you don't want to start automatically with Windows. |
