Characters
The People of Lawndale |
The Morgendorffers
|
Jake
A former hippie, who's well meaning, but totally clueless and spineless when it comes to parenthood. Easygoing, but freaks out once in a while. >> |
Helen, lawyer
A former flower child and an "overworked parent." Constantly on her cellular phone, her attempts at parenting often fall flat. >> |
Daria, 18, student
A poster child for "teen misfit". Sarcastic and cynical. She has a talent for writing, a sharp intellect, an even sharper tongue. >> |
Quinn, 16, student
A stuck-up, too-cute, self-absorbed package who dates as many boys as she can and almost every guy she meets tends to fall all over her. >> |
|
Vincent, photographer
Self-absorbed, blank slate who seems to have a hands-off approach to parenting, and whose ideas for marriage counseling come from the pop-psychiatry assembly line. |
Amanda, potter
A flower child who never quite outgrew her Sixties "peace and love" idealism. Her approach to parenting is decidedly hands-off, which has had a very definite affect on her children. |
Summer
She appears to be someone who has been worn down by the responsibility of raising her kids... all of whom seem to take every available opportunity to run away from home. |
Wind
One thing you can say for the emotional and high-strung Wind: he's not a quitter, as his two failed marriages (with a third divorce in the making) would attest. |
Penny
She and her parrot Chiquito spend most of their time backpacking through Central and South America, making and selling hand-crafted items along the way. |
|
Trent, 23, musician
Soft-spoken, handsome and lazy. He actually falls asleep while driving. He spends most of his time jamming with his band, Mystik Spiral. >> |
Jane, 18, student
Cynical, intelligent, and talented. Constantly explores the passionate side of the world (love). Her emotional nature tends to get the better of her. She also enjoys running. >> |
The Landons
|
Andrew, 50, entrepreneur
Noveau riche and proud of it. Loves his baby boy more than his new Jag. Hates welfare cheats, taxes and unimaginative accountants. |
Michele, 42, former VP
Had to quit high-powered job when their unplanned son was born--but it's okay. Nurses to Wall Street World. |
Jodie, 18,
student Could possibly become this country's first African-American and female president if the stress of being perfect doesn't kill her first. >> |
Rachel, 13, student
"I hate you, you little monster. I was the baby of the family, but nooooo, you had to come along and ruin everything..." |
Evan, 2 years, baby
"Help." |
|
Steve, 46, ad exec.
Good schmoozer. Would have gone into politics if he had the brains. |
Vivian, 44, actress/model/restaurant hostess/former Mrs. Taylor
Shortly after Brian's birth, deserted family to move to Hollywood where people are relatively sane. |
Ashley-Amber, 26, former beer model
Met Steve on photo shoot. Laughs at his stale jokes while secretly learning joint-property laws. |
Brittany, 18, student
Likes Kevin, books without chapters and Rollerblading with fun new stepmother. Uses Ashley-Amber's I.D. to get into clubs. >> |
Brian, 12, student
Loves electrical cords, duct tape and the whimper of a helpless animal on a hot afternoon. |
|
Tabby, cat
Cats disappear with Brian around, so family no longer bothers coming up with original names like Whiskers. |
The Griffins
|
Tom, 45, CPA
Still questions whether he should have married plain Patty Wells instead. "She was always so happy to see me and such a good sport. Still, there was that mole..." |
Linda, 43, VP of marketing for KSBC
Still harping on her brief career as a news anchor twenty years ago: "Did I ever tell you about my interview with Rosalyn Carter?" |
Sandi, 18, student
Aspiring fashion commentator. Hopes Quinn will get that disease that causes your hair to fall out. >> |
Sam, 14, student
Never outgrew the "terrible twos". Likes to pound his brother, kick walls and fill house with water. Plans someday to marry Quinn. |
Chris, 12, student
Loves electrical cords, duct tape and the whimper of a helpless animal on a hot afternoon. |
|
Doug, 35, contractor
Captain of the football team in high school. Could have played in college if he hadn't failed his senior year and a checkpoint test. |
Charlene, 35, housewife
Loves to see her reflection in the shine of Kevin's freshly polished trophy. Doesn't think that tramp Brittany is good enough for her son. |
Kevin, 18, student
Believes Mom and Dad when they tell him that he's the handsomest, smartest, wittiest man alive. Taught Dad how to make underarm noises. >> |
The Sloanes
|
Angier, investor
One of the partners in Grace, Sloane and Page, which is apparently some kind of investment firm. He invented the folding coffee cup. |
Katherine ("Kay"), museum curator
She's on the board of the Lawndale Art Museum, and appears to be responsible for organizing the museum's fundraising events. |
Tom student
Looks every every inch the part of a "spoiled rich brat." That's where the stereotype ends, though. He has charm, intelligence and a quick wit. >> |
Elsie student
Tom's cynical and sarcastic sister. Like Tom, she apparently doesn't care much for her family's forays, but unlike Tom, she's more outspoken about it. |
