Note: Steps 1 through 7 are the same for these figures.

Fold in half horizontally and unfold right away. Do the same vertically.

Fold the four corners inward to meet at the center of the paper.

Flip the paper over and again fold the four corners in to meet at the middle.

Again flip the paper over and fold the four corners to the middle of the figure.

Flip the paper over, and insert your fingers into the flaps at the top, pulling them out to form a rectangular shape at the top of the figure.

Repeat step 5 with the flaps on the bottom of the figure.

This is the basic figure you'll use to make the servant, the hakama to be worn by the servant, and the camera.
