This is me and my Uncle climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge
All these poems are new to this site
BACKYARD SECRETS

I see a forest with huge trees
And a river running past
I put a paper boat in it
The wind caught on its mast

When you walk around outside
Watch out for the swamp
It is thick and slushy
When you fall in you go KALOMP!

Mummy says I am silly
She says none of this is outside
But she doesnt see what I see
Including all my places to hide

Daddy thinks I daydream
He thinks I make it up
I like to play in my backyard
And win the Americas Cup

You see, I see things differently
From my mum and my dad
I see lots of things to play with
That maybe they never had

My forest is that shrub over there
My river is a puddle
The swamp is just a pile of mud
Whoops I think I need a cuddle!
AUSTRALIA
Scorching hot, day after day
Heating the tar on the road
Wonderous and unique native animals
And introduced such as the cane toad.

Kookaburras laughing in the morning
Screeching of cicadas in the arvo
Swimming carnivals held at all the pools
With children yelling out bravo!

We slip, slop, slap in the summer
At barbies, backyard pools and beaches
We have creepy crawly insects and bugs
Such as the funnel web spiders and leeches

Some people think we live in the outback
With plants of Wattle, Warratah and Bottle Brush
They dont know about our beautiful cities
Or see us in peak hour rush
