Jem
Collecting History
I
have been collecting Jem for over 20 years. I got my
1st Jem doll from my parents for my birthday, and
have been in love with her ever since. Jem holds a very
special place for me. When I was a child, the
TV series helped me when my
great grandmother passed away. Watching the show
helped me get through the pain. My great
grandmother was my
best friend. That is also why I go by the
name, "Kimmy,"
as a tribute to my her, because that is what she
used to call me.

Jem Fashions
and Sewing History
I
started making Jem clothes when the show first
premiered. However, I didn't start making
fashions for sale until June 2005 for the very first Jemcon. For Jemcon 2006
in Orlando, Florida,
I sewed the
official fashion, which was designed by Jayk. I really love
making fashions from the TV series. It is
always nice
to see something from the show come to life.
I
have been sewing for over 25 years. I got
started when my mother simply showed me how to sew a
button onto my coat. I have been sewing ever since and
I love it.
I sew by hand and by machine. I have also won contests for both
hand and machine sewing. I credit my mom and my
great grandmother for their guidance. They
both helped me out a great deal. My parents even help me
with their input and design ideas.
I
have a small toddler, so I sew when he sleeps. I call it
my alone time!
I will sew for as long I as
enjoy it!
