I don't know exactly how long I've been down here. In the dark. It seems as if an eternity has gone by.. and yet I see no sign, no sign of the light. I'm starting to wonder.. if there ever was such a thing? It's starting to seem like some sort of myth. Theres no forgiveness down here. Its kill or be killed. Eat of be eaten.. as my friend used to say. A friend. Hmph. Been awhile. No one trusts each other down here. I don't see how others can stand it. But.. I guess the dark has gotten to them too. Each move I take seems like I'm traveling through sludge. I wonder... how long can I survive down here?

Kaelyn wrote furiously in her notebook. An idea had just swept over her like some god from heaven. Yes! Maybe she WILL pass?! Finally! Who could've thought she'd be so good at writing essays? Her teacher, Mr. Miller, loomed over her for a second.. and then continued walking down the aisle. God, how she hated him. He was so.. geh. Never mind about that.. she had an essay to write! Her grade depended on it. Stupid final exams. She yawned. She had three whole days to finish it. Of course, she had slept on the first day.. didn't get much done there. And the second day. Well.. But no! She blinked. Gotta finish it.
"Pst, hey. You done yet?"
Kaelyn looked up. "Meh?"
"You have like.. ten minutes Kay. Better hurry!" April almost laughed.
Kaelyn just shook her head and went back to work. Of course April had already gotten hers done. She sighed. Whatever. Once she was done with this.. she wouldn't have to worry.

This dank place. It sickens me. Each day I stay here.. the more I learn to be afraid. Of everything, the shadows, the bumps in the night. There is nothing I can do but to hope they don't find me.

Kaelyn walked through the busy hallways, thankful that third hour was finally over. Maybe now she could get some work done on her project. Thank god Mr. Miller didn't yell at her again. He was really starting to get annoying. For some reason, he always found a way to get her into trouble. It just wasn't cool. Maybe that's why she was on the brink of failing that class? Eh, whatever. Yawning, Kaelyn headed outside.
"Hey! Kaelyn! Wait up!"
"Hmm?" Kaelyn turned around. It was Jake Evans. "Oh, hey!" She smiled.
"Where are you going for lunch?"
"Oh, no where in particular. As usual." She laughed.
"Hmm.. hey, would you like to go to Mickey D's with me?" Jake returned the smile.
"Oh.. I dunno.." she teased.
"Wha?! ..oh. Heh. Ohhh, okay. Fine. Be that way."
"Which way?"
"..the one you're on."
"Meh?"
"Sorry, wasn't funny. Anyways, how'd you think you did on the exit exam?"
"Oh, so that's what they call it now is it? I thought they called it hell." she yawned. Evil tests.
"Funny."
"Yeah, isn't it?" Kaelyn felt exausted. "All I really want to do is go to sleep. Bleeeh."
"Heh. You getting enough sleep?"
"Yeah. Enough.. I guess." Kaelyn glanced over. Egh, it was Marissa. Miller, tests, and Marissa were all things she put on her hate list.
"Hey Kay! How're the dandilions fairing? Hah!" Marissa laughed and went on her way.
"..jerk" Kaelyn muttered. She watched as April tagged alongside Marissa. How evil was that! Bleh. Today wasn't going to be a good day at all.. even though it WAS half over.
"Who was that?" Jake asked.
"...no one."
"...dandilions?"
"Heh, don't ask."
"Hmm, okay. Whatever you say."
Bleh. April and Kaelyn used to be the best of friends.. but ever since miss.. whatsherface popped up, April found herself a new friend to hang out with. It's not like.. they didn't still talk. But it had left Kay standing there, all alone.
"Mhph..." Jake looked up, stretching his neck.
"Hmm? What's up?"
"Oh nothing.. just thinking."
"About...?"
"Things."
"Hmm."
"Hey.."
"Uhm.. yeah? Jake?" Kaelyn searched Jake's deep blue eyes. Something was definately up.
"You ever..." He paused.
Kaelyn almost fell over on her face. "Ever wha...?"
"Eh.. Nevermind."
"Uhm.. okay?"
"Forget it. Where you eating lunch again?"
"Heh, I'm not eating lunch today. Figured I'd go hang out in the band room again."
"Ahh, okay. Well, I should get going then."
"You're more than welcome to-"
"It's alright. I guess I'll catch you later then!"
"..yeah. Later?" That was.. odd. to say the least. She watched Jake leave. How long has she known him? Since the 6th grade? Maybe the 7th.. she wasn't sure. He was definately taller now though. With his golden brown hair and his dark blue eyes. Hmm. She shruged. This was the least of her worries.

I feel like I'm suffocating. Gagging on this utterly foul air. What did I ever do wrong? I... There must be something I can do. Something to keep this insanity at bay... I can feel it in the air. They're looking for me. I've gotta run. Gotta hide. I've got do something. But what? What hope is there? Nothing but despair. It's useless.. but still, I've gotta keep on going.

::: And that's all I have at the moment. It's still a work in progress. lol ^^; :::
