To cosplay and beyond!
I got to the pre-reg badge pick-up line and gaped at it, but heard that the non-pre-reg line was even worse. ^^; 15 minutes later, I was inside and I got my badge. I headed to the dealer's room, but found that the door was closed and heard it won't open until 6pm. (It was only 5:30 by that time.) So, I headed to the Anime Cosplay Registration (which also starts at 6pm.) At the cosplay registration door, I saw a guy sitting in something like a box with wheels (really, it's MUCH cooler then it sounds) with lights and everything. His contraption was something like what Xavier from X-Men sat in, but he was a character from 'Doctor Who' (I think.) Totally awesome. The one who checked me in remembered my code number from when I pre-registered online for the competition, (I had forgotten it.) She signed the back of my badge, told me to go to the judging tomorrow at 10am and be at the masquerade at 7pm.
When that was done, I headed back to the Dealer's Room and browsed. This being more of a sci-fi con then anime, there were tons of sci-fi/medieval booths. While I was browsing through some Death Note stuff, I turned and was greeted with a corpse on the ground.
Turns out, that booth had displays of 3-D portraits, animontronic zombies, a coffin filled with nails...etc for stuff for haunted houses. O.o After browsing some more, I found the Ouran bear that I wanted, but declined buying it since it was $25. >.< After walking around for a good hour, I headed to my first panel.
Fav character: Fai *flips hair*
The Tsubasa Chronicles and Xxxholic panel was held by a group of Tsubasa cosplayers as well as Kazahaya and Rikuo from Legal Drug. *fangirl squeals* They were ecstatic that I recognized them and I was ecstatic that they were cosplaying Legal Drug. Of course I had to get a picture of them.
(FYI, they're holding a condom between them. ^.^) We found out where everyone was on the series so that there will be no spoilers (though spoilers were shared amongst those who wanted to know who the second Syaoran was. ^-^) The synopsis of both series were given and everyone was asked their fav character. The majority mentioned Fai D. Flowright and the cosplayer flipped his hair. Fai: Of course! ^.^ It was an enjoyable discussion-type panel.
'awkward handjob'
The next panel 'Whose Line Is It Anyway? Anime version' was held by an anime club (from another university) and it was very well done. The games from the show 'Whose Line is It' were used with an anime twist. I'm not sure how to go into details, but it was hilarious. Pokemon battles turned into asking for a date and the language for the 'subtitles' game was of course Japanese. An asian girl (I actually think she was the one who was part of the yaoi panel at Anime Next last year ^^;) kept on bringing up the suggestion of 'awkward handjob' when the hosts requested for a scene. Of course we had to do it. (It was an 9pm panel so we could get a bit racy. ^.^) There were times when the jokes were kinda dry, but for anime fans to do this (make jokes on the spot,) I think they did a very good job. I only wish we could have video taped it. ^.^
serious yaoi discussion
'Yuri for Girls, Yaoi for Boys' sounds like a yaoi/yuri panel with a twist...but it was only a basic yaoi/yuri panel. It just so happens that the two (married couple) that was leading the panel like both yaoi and yuri. *applauds* There were few outbursts of OTPs and 'gateway' series were discussed. Of course, for many people the gateway yuri seres was Sailor Moon. Someone even mentioned their gateway yaoi series was Dragon Ball Z. ^^; Later, I took pictures with Yamato and Kyouya cosplayers that were in the audience. (We were probably the only Loveless cosplayers that weekend.)
I came home, finished sewing and went to sleep for a few hours before the beginning of day two....
