What is this black stuff?!?
The day before, I spoke with Caitlin Glass about her and Vic's Sunday service at I-Con and somehow I discovered that they didn't have a keyboard. So I volunteered to bring one. ^^; While I was getting the keyboard out of the car, I discovered that the right side of my dress had a few black spots on it. Not only was it black, it was sticky and kinda reminded me of car lubes. Yucky.... And my cosplay is white too.... *groans* Oh well, I went like that throughout the day. After dropping off the keyboard in the staff room, I headed to the panels.
And than we had FMA Tacos....
Highlights.... First it was Caitlin's panel. She spoke about the craziness of voicing Hiyono Yuizaki in the episode previews of Spiral as well as how the FMA Taco icons came into existence. Once upon a time in the Hellcon (FMA fangroup) chatroom, someone brought up the question of 'If FMA was a taco, what kind of taco would they be?' Everyone started throwing statements around and at a whim, someone decided to icon-ize them. And the FMA Tacos were born! Some examples: Roy was the 'flaming taco', Al was the 'hard on the outside, but soft on the inside taco.' Awww.... ^.^ Armstrong was 'the sparktacular and beefy taco.' And Ed was 'the shrimp kids' meal taco' complete with a bottle of milk. ^-^
Caitlin mentioned that she has what is now known as the 'Mermaid Complex.' She (similar to Ariel from 'The Little Mermaid') has red hair and blue eyes. So...any voice work that comes up with any red haired, blue eyed characters, she wants to voice the character. ^-^ We're not complaining...go right ahead! ^.^ At another question, she mentioned that if she got the chance, the character that she would like to play from Ouran would be Eclair since it would be an opportunity to play a more evil character than her usual upbeat ones. ^.^ Of course, she was asked to comment about the end of the FMA movie.... She was also upset at Edward leaving Winry behind and stated plainly, "He's too obsessed with the gypsy girl!" lol Caitlin thought that Winry would perhaps end up with Havoc and they'll have alot of 'Arian babies' (blond haired, blue eyed. ^.^) *cue the aww-ing* (Later, in Vic's panel, someone told Vic about Winry ending up with Havoc and he said that it'll be great, except that Winry will need to make Havoc stop smoking. It's bad for the babies. ^.^)
Although we know that Caitlin is in the anime, Tsubasa, her role is still a secret. HOWEVER, she did mention that she appeared in the first episode and her character is very different. Since I asked the main cast (during NY Comic Con) who Tomoyo's VA was, I already know it's not Caitlin. I'm going to make a guess based on her short appearance in the first episode...I think Caitlin is voicing Soma (original character from RG Veda.) This is only a guess and I'm most likely incorrect. Soma is a wonderful character. The only other guess I have is Chi. ^^; We'll just have to wait and see when Caitlin is given permission to divulge the info. ^.^
Not the powdered donuts!
Vic's panel opened with someone presenting him with a box of powdered donuts...among various other gifts that he received. (Powdered donuts is a joke from one of his past recording experiences. You can check out some of my previous con reports about that. ^^;) He happily shared the donuts with the audience, though by the time it got to the third row (where I was sitting,) it was of course empty. Of course, someone asked him to do the 'Roy Mustang is sexy' line, which prompted him to tell about what happened to Aaron (Al's VA) at another convention. Vic also did one of his few Broly (DBZ) voices at the request of a young fan. (Prior to the screaming, he commented on how it kills his voice and hopes to never have to do this voice again. ^^;)
Randomness.... Some of the strangest things Vic had to sign were underwear, a person's car (with a giant sharpie) and feet.... ^^; Vic saw someone wearing a mask and started singing 'Masquerade' from Phantom of the Opera. The girl gave him the mask and he continued to serenade her with 'All I Ask of You' admist all the screaming fangirls. 'Sing! My angel of music....' *fangirl squeal* ^.^

When Vic's girlfriend called, we (the audience) shouted 'Hi!' and awwed as Vic explained she was flying home to Colorado to visit her parents and he wanted her to call to make sure she was safe. *awwww* Vic also told us that he found out that Adult Swim (Cartoon Network) does not want to air Tsubasa since it didn't have enough violence and it was considered to be a 'show for girls.' O.o Since animes like FMA and Bleach are known to be popular, the station continues to put up animes of that sort. However, just because Tsubasa doesn't have that level of gore, doesn't make it boring for viewers. >.<; Of course, us as the fans will retaliate and request that it be placed on the air.
More youtube clips.... (Second links denote out-of-sync sound, but clearer pic.)
You take this corner, and fold it over.
I found an empty hallway with a chair and table and had lunch of shredded pork-egg sandwich. Yummy! ^.^ I also talked to Jenn-chan for a good while. It was a nice repreive. Afterwards, was the origami panel with Caitlin. There were tons of people and we learned how to make a 'spiky ball' as well as a 'fortune teller' and a 'tear drop ornament.' Of course, I also made a demented rose and a few cranes on the side. ^^;
At the end of the panel, Caitlin had 3 things she folded in increasing intricacy. We get to win them by answering trivia questions. I answered the first one correctly which was about her voicing two characters in FMA. 'Besides Winry, who was the other one?' Of course, it was Sara Rockbell, Winry's mother. ^-^ The prize was a pretty box.
Lines for signing, lines for masquerade
The lines for the VA signing stretched around to the outside of the building. Since the line was not as insanely long as other conventions, ppl have more opportunities to take pics with the VAs. However, this meant that even though I was not that far back, I still waited a good hour in the cold, cold wind. Brrr.... I met some really nice people and discovered that I look like I'm 17 years old. ^-^ Yay! I'm not old! *dances*
Good thing I had pocky from both okaa-san and the pastor...because I really needed 10 boxes. ^^; Bill Rogers signed the dvd cover for Gravitation vol. 3. Taliesin Jaffe signed a picture of Rufus for Theresa-nee-chan. As a gift, I gave him the movie cutscenes from the game, 'Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria' on dvd. ^.^ I told him that my godsister was the one that played the game and made the dvds. He was extrememly happy to get them and said that he'll be able to get his friends together to watch it. ^^; Also, he said that it was beneficial to him since it'll be something he'll be able to show if he needs it for his work. ^-^ (Theresa-nee-chan will be making me another copy of the movie.)
Both Caitlin and Vic signed my English FMA Limited ed. movie case. When I gave Vic the greentea pocky, he said in appreciation, 'This is the best kind!' I laughed and replied 'You say the same thing every time I give you one!' He smiled. 'And it was true now as it was then.' ^-^
After the signing, okaa-san came with dinner which I ate happily in the car. (Ah...the perks of being an Only. *grins* ^^;) After digesting for a bit, I headed to the Javits Center for the masquerade. Of course, there was a line that wound around the oddly shaped building. Thankfully, I was near the door which allowed me to experience the cold air and warm heat of the inside. There was a Sailor Venus and Princess Serenity nearby that was freezing as well. ^^; An impormtu dance-athon started nearby with a penguin (more on that later) and others started singing old sailing songs...? ?.? Finally, we were let inside.
Night of the Dancing Narutards...and Penguins.
Bill Rogers and the unnamed VA MCed the masquerade (refer to pic above.) Remember the penguin I mentioned just a paragraph ago? Well, I don't know if it was 'planned' or not, but people started chanting 'Penguin! Penguin!' This penguin cosplayer ended up going on stage and started raving. *cheers* He danced pretty well too. ^.^ Yay for random penguins!
He went on stage halfway through the masquerade as well and started doing the YMCA. ^-^ Of course, he had a soundtrack throughout his entire 5 minutes of cosplay fame. ^.^ From what I can tell, this penguin has been dancing around campus alot prior to his appearance in the masq. From his friends (who sat behind me, ^^;) he is not really in the program, but due to the call of his fans, he got random chances to go up and perform. ^.^ Planned or not, he was my fav. part of the masquerade.
One phrase can encompass the majority of the entries in this masq...and it is 'dancing Narutards.' (Narutards are Naruto fans.) For some reason, practically everyone was dancing...sometimes, not really well. ^^; There was two awesome entries (which can be seen in youtube below) that basically is filled with craziness. I dub them, 'Anything Goes Masquerade.' ^.^
Penguin Rave - The first appearance of THE PENGUIN!
Weirdest Two Minutes Ever - That title is the name that they gave themselves...though it is very true. ^^;
Game Over - One of the winners of the masq...when Link got owned.... ^-^
Penguin YMCA - Return of THE PENGUIN!
So You Think You Can Dance - Another winner...featuring dancing Narutards....
PANTS! ~ another link - This cosplay group is very popular. They won last year and I think the year before. They were going to win this year as well, but since they won so many times already, the judges graciously asked them to withdraw from the competition which they agreed. They were pretty creative. ^-^ One of my fav skits.
Ruffles - More chaos. Another winner...definitely another fav of mine. ^-^
After the performances, we had walk-on cosplays as well as the AMV entries. My fav. entries were Ouran, FFVII:AC and Bleach. Unfortunately, I don't remember what they're call and can't find them just yet. The winners...also escape me. Once I find out, I'll update this part. ^^;
