panel, lines, panel, lines
Woke up at 9am and had instant noodles for breakfast. ^.^ After putting on my Asuca Hayashi cosplay, I left the room at about 11:30am. Having my obi already sewn together was a fantastic idea. ^.^ I stepped into the Afro Samurai panel with associate producer, Eric Calderon. Apparently Samuel L. Jackson (VA for Afro) is next to undirectable. He is talented, but refuses to do 2nd takes. Also, he gets offended easily. ^^;
Afterwards, I left to meet up with Jenn-chan and her parents. Her father was totally trigger happy, snapping pics of everyone who passed. I gave him the 411 on taking cosplay pics at cons. I waited with them on the pre-reg line for awhile. Jenn-chan and I watched a bit of FMA ep. 37 on my mp4 player. I left them to catch the end of the ADR scripting panel.
Monica Rial left the panel early after doing the "I have to go to the bathroom NOW" dance aka. as the "pee pee" dance. ^^; I was able to get Chris Patton to sign my Hello Kitty/Dear Daniel pic. ^.^ I met up with Jenn-chan who made it inside the building. Yay! After they got their badges, they went on the dealers room line while I head to the signing.
"I am gorgeous."
During the signing, I was able to ask Eric Calderon about the Japanese dubs of Afro Samurai since this is the first Japanime to be dubbed in English first. Eric mentioned that the anime is being shown in Japan on tv with subtitles. However, once the dvds come out, they will most likely have Japanese dubs. Chris Patton signed my FMA pic as Greed and Wayne Grayson signed my Joey Wheeler pic with "I am gorgeous." I laughed and responded "Yes, you are." ^.^ Jonathon Klein signed my 3x3 Eyes pic as well as a pic from Haibane Renmei. Mike Sinterniklaas signed my FMA pic as Leo and I was able to compliment him on his intro speech for Peter Fernandez at the American Anime Awards earlier this year (which I attended. ^.^) We talked about how he pulled off his shirt to reveal his Speed Racer tee underneath. Me: I was wondering how come you were undoing your shirt and your tie...and then.... O.O lol Mike: lol ^.^ Michele Knotz signed my May/Misty pic and I told her how hard it was to find a May/Misty pic that was not hentai. We laughed about that too. ^^; Monica signed my Hello Kitty pic and of course, I gave pocky to all of them. ^-^
Dealer's room = otaku heaven
Since Jenn-chan was still on the dealer's room line, I joined up on the waiting. Then, for the next 2+ hours, we wandered around the haven that is 'the Dealer's Room'. O.O So many things, so little money. Jenn-chan bought a Kakashi plush and I made mental notes of what I wanted to buy. At about 4:30pm, Jenn-chan and co. went to watch anime and I headed to the Launch Party where one of the hosts bashed the other host's head with a frying pan. ^.^
and only 50% of us will be happy
As part of the show, they listed the 10 top rules of masquerade: the top two were my fav. #10 No more Sailor Moon kissing Sailor Mars. Only 50% of the audience aka. fanboys would be happy. Think of the fangirls! #9 No more Edward Elric kissing Roy Mustang. Only 50% of the audience aka. fangirls would be happy. Think of the fanboys! ^.^ I forgot which number it was, but all Metal Gear Solid skits must include the box. *nods knowingly*
Besides introducing the VAs and guests, they asked them some questions. Michele Knotz also threw pokemon plushies into the audience. From where I was sitting, it looked like Plusle and Minun. ^.^
The 'sponsers' of the talkshow (which was the frame for the 'Launch Party') were just as humorous. The only one that I could remember right now was the Microsoft Windows Vista...which was illustrated by the 'Blue Screen of Death'. lol
Panda love!
The VA panel was afterwards and as usual, hilarity ensues. Someone asked about how Chris Patton got the inspiration to voice Fakir from Princess Tutu. His response: he is Greed (FMA,) only gay. ^_^ He then proceeded to speak in Fakir's voice about coming to Anime Next and about buying shoes.... roflol Another Chris moment came when someone asked about his character in Nerima Daikon Brothers as Ichiro...who is in love with a panda...named Panda-daikon. ^.^ His song? "Fluffy fluffy. Panda pandy. Don't know why you, make me randy. When I poke you in my fantasy, I feel like I could cry...." Yup, Chris sang the song and it was soooo funny. ^.^ My fav. line from the song is "We'll be furry, through the night." O.o
As requested, Wayne Grayson spoke as Joey (Yugioh) and Michele Knotz did her Squirtle and Bulbasaur voices. Kawaii! ^.^
First at-con photoshoot!
After the panel, I met up with Jenn-chan outside of the Holidy Inn and had my first ever at-con photoshoot. It was also my first ever Asuca Hayashi cosplay photoshoot. ^.^ So pretty.... As mentioned before, Jenn-chan was an awesome photographer except her subject (me) was not so photogenic. ^^; Thx, Jenn-chan! ^.^
When we were done, Jenn-chan's parents were still watching Future Boy Conan. Yay for early Miyazaki works! ^.^ Since I wanted to make it to the yaoi panel at 8pm, Jenn-chan and I went our separate ways. I returned to the hotel to change out of my cosplay and had instant noodles for dinner. Then off to the yaoi panel!
*Warning* Don't continue reading if you're not interested in yaoi or you don't know what it is. Nothing is mentioned graphically, but if you rather not know, please scroll ahead until you hit the next subject.
corn, octopus and yaoi paddles
When you put a bunch of yaoi fangirls and fanboys in one room.... ^.^ First are the rules. People who left the room and come back had to do something 'capscock' worthy. (This is in reference to the netspeak term 'capslock'.) Anyone doing anything capscock will get veggie chips which is decidely tasty to some, not so to others. ^^; Another rule is that whenever someone opens the door, everyone yells 'Buttsex!' lol It just so happens a male staff goes in and out alot so he was greeted with that wonderful term throughout the panel. ^.^
They had prizes of 3 djs and dvds for answering trivia or doing something deemed worthier then getting veggie chips. I got the first dvd (Level C) for answering a Gakuen Heaven question. ^.^ The question was something like name a certain game that turned into a manga and anime. (I forgot the exact details of the question. ^^;) Someone said Sukisho which is also an answer, but not the one they were looking for. I don't know why someone else mentioned Loveless since it was never a game. Two guys kissed which earned them a dj which they can share. ^.^
We watched the hottest scenes from Boku no Sexual Harrassment with the infamous corn scene. Since the sound was so low (or non-existent,) we had different people voicing the seme and uke parts, sound effects and of course, the 'fap fap fap.' (Gomen, if you don't know what I'm typing about, I'll write about that another time. ^^;) BGM was a must as well. The best was a straight guy who did alot of the talking. Unfortunately, he left early for a TCG tournament and the panelists couldn't give him the dj he deserved. Instead, they gave it to the gay couple so now they have two djs to share. ^.^
We also watched Winter Cicada which demonstrated the roles reversal of seme and uke. Mangaka Youka Nitta-sensei likes to do that alot. ^.^ I brought up the almost canon relationship of Trowa and Quatre in Gundam Wing, referring to my previous attendence at a Gundam panel. Cultural-wise, we discussed the significance of fireflies in Boku as the loss of innocence. We also talked about the merits of L and Raito's relationship in Death Note. KakashixIruki pairing as well as GinjixBan of Get Backers was a hot topic. Offical art and storyline shows they are in love! Words have nothing to do with it. ^.^ The last clip shown was the octopus scene from D.Gray-Man. Too much hilarity.
There was only one other Asian girl besides me and she was a panelist. She also spoke Mando and we had a 'Asian pride/yay yaoi' moment. ^.^ Throughout the panel, she slapped people on the behind with the yaoi paddle. Of course, she gladly received a yaoi paddle slap as well. ^-^ Did I mention she was hot? It was already 10:30pm by the time the panel ended, but I was happy to stay for the entire time.
12012...for a little while
I stayed for a few songs at the 12012 concert. I found some short youtube clips of the concert, though I don't think they are the offical ones.... ^^;
Their encore piece, 'Butterfly' was awesome and I totally loved it. I was tired by that time so I headed back to the hotel, but not before I stuck my head into the karaoke room for a few moments. After washing up, I slept. -.-Zzz
