Packing, packing and moving.
Unlike previous conventions, I only had minor sewing repairs that needed to be made (to my Kikyo cosplay) and all major alterations were done. *whew* The 'day-of-leaving' for the convention was filled with the usual packing of necessities (my entire cosplay wardrobe) complete with iron and hairspray. O-kaa-san came back from her daily swimming and proceeded to instruct me of what she wanted to bring: I had her packing to do as well. I moved EVERYTHING to the car. In 100 degree weather, I was dripping with sweat by the time I was done. We left around 3pm, 1 hr. and a half later than planned, but at least we were on our way.
I don't drive over 50mph
Since we were running/driving late, I didn't get to putter along at 50mph. Instead, o-kaa-san drove the whole way at 80mph (the usual highway speeds for interstate driving) with one rest stop midway for food and toilet needs. I didn't mind since I wanted to get to the con center in time to pick up badges. (Sound familiar? Why am I always running for badges?!? -.-;) Even at those speeds, we reached Baltimore (city limits) at 8:30pm and headed straight for the convention center. We arrived at 8:50 and encountered many people but no lines (thanks to the large number of constaff working registrations.) I picked up my badge with no problems and we drove a few more seconds before hitting the hotel, Sheraton Inner Harbor.
Sheraton on friday: good stuff...
After checking in, a bellhop helped me get my luggage and props up to the room. There was no fridge (although I requested one before) so I called housekeeping. Someone brought the fridge up within 3 minutes. Time to relax, shower, iron and set up my schedule for the next day....
bad stuff...
O-kaa-san realized in the next 10 minutes that she forgot her swimming stuff back home. O.o Within 15 minutes of arriving at this hotel, anger, complaints and me losing my temper commenced. Some of yous got calls from me requesting assistance and advice. Thanks for putting up with this 'cause I was about to start yelling at her (if you don't count the way I spoke up to that point.) I ignored her and proceeded to do what I needed to do (shower, iron and set up schedule.) Later, o-kaa-san calmed down and we had a reasonable night...with me sleeping at 3:30am in the morning....
