Pre-con: Thursday, June 15

Last minute things....

The timing was pretty close...o-kaa-san was still helping me hem the skirt when my ride to the convention came at 7pm. Yes, we were planning to leave at 6pm, but traffic was killer.... Anyway, when we left, the dress still wasn't finished, though the only thing left was placing the design on the skirt. (What was I doing all morning/afternoon? Photoshopping! O.o) All I needed to do was place the pics to scale, print it out on transfer paper, cut out the design and then iron on the transfers. Simple, ne? I enlisted the help of Pearl-chan and P-chan. Basically, we'll be working on the dress when we get to the hotel. <.<;

Since my printer is slow, I couldn't print out all the transfers. So, I packed my printer along with my laptop. ^^; Poor P-chan, she went on a last minute shopping spree for me. Pocky, stockings and water. ^^; I had almost everything I needed with me...afterall, I travel a lot so I don't usually forget things...sorta.... At the end, I forgot cups and my Jirachi doll (friday cosplay.) >.< Oh well...I'll bring Jirachi to Otakon then. *starts making list*

AnimeNEXT, here we come!

Around 8:15pm, we picked up P-chan and Pearl-chan and went on our way into NJ. I tried to be the GPS...though I don't know how helpful I was. ^^; I was mostly worried that we won't make it to the convention center on time. Pre-reg badge pickup was only from 7-10pm on thursay night. Although it's not that important, I like to be able to have everything all set for the next day. ^^;

In the end, I didn't have to worry much. We got to the con center around 9:20pm. We went straight to the center and picked up our pre-reg badges. There weren't that many people to my surprise. Perhaps it's because we were so late.... *shrugs* Then we headed to the Courtyard by Marriot, checked in and brought the stuff to our room. In a gesture of gratitude, we gave our ride a large pack of water and a bag of snacks. (He ate it all the way home.... Thx, P-chan for providing the snacks. ^-^) Super hungry as we were, we headed to the restaurant I went to last year, Hooligans. There was a live band playing and we had a wonderful dinner (at least I had a wonderful dinner ^^;) and the girls ordered an ultra cute dessert (I was too full so I didn't eat the dessert, but I promised myself that I will get it next time. ^-^) Refreshed and full, we retired to our room.

Not to sleep though. After showering, the three of us started to sew/cut/glue like crazy throughout the entire night....

PM to Pearl-chan and P-chan

*bows* Thank you sooooo much for helping me that night. I don't know what would have happened if you guys weren't there with your moral support and tremendous help.

I won't go into detail about what we did and how much work we did on the dress, except that we were up until past 7am in the morning. The dress is gorgeous. I'm not just saying that because it was my dress, but it was close (though not perfect) to how I imagined Asuca Hayashi's dress to be. I will admit that more work is needed, but for the time, it was the best we could do. *yawn* We were so tired that we slept the few hours we could before the actual start of the convention.....
