Classification/Sorting

Classification means to create sets.  Children usually sort objects first by color

and then by other dimensions (size, appearance, shape) to create sets. 

Home Activity:

Gather collections of everyday objects such as buttons, earrings, coins, or

paperclips.  Give your child one of the collections and ask an open ended question:

"What groups can we make from these buttons?" Have your child sort the objects

into sets and describe them.
