| True love lasts forever Chapter 1 Hey babe! James grinned. Amy smiled, stepping outside into the cool air. They had been dating for about three weeks now, and James was taking her to see a movie shed been waiting to see for ages. James opened the car door and she got in, laughing about how much of a gentleman he was. He jumped in the other side, and turned the engine on, backing out of Amys driveway carefully. They set off, and Amy turned the radio on. What kind of shit is this? she laughed, changing the station. A Stacie Orrico song was playing, so Amy sang along. James smiled, and they soon arrived at the centre. They both got out, and entered the building, making their way over to get their tickets. Hey booked two tickets under the name of Bourne. The receptionist checked the computer quickly, and found the tickets, passing them over to James. He and Amy went up the stairs to the cinema. Amy nipped to the toilet on the way to quickly check that she was looking OK. She looked in the mirror and thought about how lucky she was. She had never been very popular at school, and she had only been able to dream of being with one of the cool people, like James. No one, especially Amy, had ever imagined that he would even look at her. And yet he did - and liked what he saw, too. Personally, Amy couldnt understand what he did see in someone like her. She emerged from the toilets to be greeted by James, along with a tub of Smarties. Just thought I might as well buy something while you were busy trying to make yourself even more gorgeous, James grinned, taking her hand and leading her to find their seats. They were situated near the back, which suited them fine, and they sat down to wait for the movie to start. It was 10.30pm and the film had finished. James and Amy were walking out to the car, when they were spotted by Amys friend, Meredith. Hey Amy! she shouted, pushing past people to join the pair. Hi Mere. I was wondering, Im inviting Michelle over for Saturday - wanna come? Sure, what time? Uh, we could meet in town in the afternoon some time, say about two, go shopping a bit - James rolled his eyes - and then come back to mine and stay the night. Sounds great! Ill be there. Cool, Ill probably phone you before then anyway, so Ill see you, yeah? Meredith walked over to her car, waving at Amy as she got in. Amy and James arrived at his car, and they jumped in. So was the movie as good as you expected? James asked her, as they set off down the road. Yeah, it was cool! Amy grinned. They chatted about random things on the way back to Amys. Jimmy, thanks for the great night, said Amy, when they were back outside her house. He smiled and put his arms around her, leaning in to kiss her softly. She kissed him back eagerly. After a few minutes, they broke apart, and Amy opened her front door. See you tomorrow then! Love you. She blew him a kiss, and he said cheerio before returning to his car and driving off. Amy sighed contentedly and went upstairs to get ready for bed. Chapter 2 Beep! Beep! Beep! Amy groaned and reached over to turn off her alarm. It was 11am on Saturday morning, and she had to help her younger sister, Rachel, wash the car before she could meet her friends in town. Getting dressed, she smiled as she thought of James. He was probably down at the park right now, playing football with his mates. Or still in bed, snoozing away. She went downstairs and grabbed some breakfast before finding a bucket and filling it with water. She picked up two sponges and took the bucket outside, where Rachel was mucking around with a football, waiting for her sister. Finally! she exclaimed. Hey, I didnt see YOU getting the stupid water and stuff, Amy retorted. She set the bucket down by the car, and the two girls set to work. AHHHH!!!! screamed Amy, as she felt water pour down her back. You cow! She laughed, dipping her sponge in the bucket and chasing Rachel to try and get her back. You just wait till I get the hose out, young lady! Amy was on the bus, going into the town centre to meet Michelle and Meredith. It stopped, and she leapt off, making her way towards Woolworths, where they had arranged to meet. Hiya! Michelle called, who was already there. Hey. Any sign of Mere? Not yet she had to do something for her Mum first, but she should be here in a minute. About five minutes later, Meredith joined them, and they set off for the shopping centre across the road. Anywhere in particular you guys wanna go? Meredith asked. Michelle shrugged. Not really, just look through clothes shops really. Oh, and check out HMV and stuff too. Yeah, then we could get something to eat somewhere, added Amy. The girls spent the next hour or two browsing through most of the shops, occaisonally finding something mildly interesting, but not buying anything. Here, my stomach needs something. How about we go to McDonalds or whatever, since were near there? Amy suggested. The other two agreed, so they made their way over to McDonalds for a snack. Everyone got a cheeseburger and chips, which they decided to take with them to the park, which was about a five minute walk away. When they arrived, Amy immediately rushed over to the round swing, quickly followed by Michelle and Meredith. Aww, I wanted to go to the little house thing to finish my chips, but someones already in there, Meredith sighed. Amy laughed. Ooh, Im gonna be nosy! She and Michelle went closer to the small hut, and mucked about there for a minute. Suddenly Amy realised it was James in there, so she went to say hi, when Oh my God, Michelle Amy stood, stunned. She was shocked at what she saw - James was cuddling up with another girl! Amy felt tears running down her cheeks, when James looked up at her, and she turned away, running in the opposite direction, towards the swings, where she sat on one and started sobbing. Seconds later, James was by her side, with Michelle, Meredith and The Bitch (Amy decided that would be her name) right behind him. Oh no aww babes, trust me, that wasnt how it looked at all this is a mate of mine, Heidi, and shes been through a hell of a lot lately, so I was just cheering her up. Oh God, this turned bad Amy, dont cry, Im really sorry. I love you. He put his arms around her, and she felt unbelievably relieved. His lips touched hers, and they sat there kissing each other, until Michelle coughed. Uh, sorry Amy blushed. James grinned at her, and she laughed. She stood up and apologised to Heidi, who was standing by them looking uncomfortable, for overreacting about everything. Michelle grabbed Amys arm. Hey, how about I spin you round on the swing over there? Amy laughed. Count me in! Chapter 3 It was over a week since the suspected-James-cheating incident happened. Tonight, James was going to treat Amy to a meal at her favourite restaurant, partly to make up for everything. Amy scooted around her room, trying to make herself look as perfect as she could get herself. She chose a gorgeous darkish blue top with some zips on it, which added a great effect to it, and also some dark blue cords along with black boots. She applied some make up, to try and glam herself up a little bit, and she was ready. Hearing a knock at the door, she dashed downstairs, almost tripping up on something of Rachels, and flung open the door. Wow, you look amazing! said James. As do you all the time, Amy grinned. James grabbed her hand and led her out to his car, which was waiting in the driveway. They both got in and set off. So what restaurant are we going to? asked Amy - James hadnt told her exactly where they were going. Ahh, youll see, he said, smiling to himself. They sat in silence for a few minutes, when Amy suddenly saw something. Something she didnt like the look of. At all. Um, James what the hell is that on the road?! I dont know, but its coming right at us! Oh my God, its going to hit us!! Amy yelled, peering through the windscreen, making out the shape of a car, coming very fast, right in their direction. James swerved to avoid it, and the car tyres screeched on the road. Amy screamed as they hit something, and for a second she felt a slight sensation of floating. And then everything went black. Amy? Is she waking up? Amy! There was a faint sound of someone speaking, but Amy couldnt hear who it was. She opened her eyes, and felt excruciating pain going through her arm. Amy! Her mother looked relieved. Huh? What? Where am I? Amy looked around at the strange room she was in, and memories came flooding back to her. Oh my God! She sat up, and immediately felt faint. Dont worry, honey, you hit your head a bit, you need rest. But but what about James? Is he OK? How long have I been unconscious? Questions were pouring out of her. She wanted so many answers. But she needed to know how James was. About 45 minutes. Hes in the intensive care unit, but Im sure he will be fine. Amys eyes widened. Mum! I need to see him. Now! Please Her mother shook her head. The doctors wont let you in there right now. Plus you need some rest. What happened anyway? In the accident, I mean. All I remember is that crazy car, and James avoiding it, and... Well, the car hit a tree, and you went flying out the door. And you landed on your arm, which is why thats hurting - youve broken it, Im afraid. Oh God, I need to see Jimmy. Amy tried to get up. Dont get up, the doctor said oh screw what the stupid doctors say!! Amy cried, and her mother looked at her shocked. OK, Im sorry, but I love him, and I need to see him. Her mum nodded. OK, wait there, Ill see what I can do. Amy watched her mother leave the room, and tried not to cry. Damn, she muttered to herself. Why James? Why did he have to get hurt? Could it not have been me? No one would care then but James Her mother returned. Youre allowed to go in and see him soon. You wanna come up and wait outside? Yeah, OK, Amy agreed. They sat on the hard blue seats for what seemed like five hours, before the doctor finally said they could go in. Amy walked into the room, and her heart nearly stopped. Chapter 4 There, lying on the bed, was James. A helpless body that had once been an amazing, lively, caring person. He was connected to a machine that was beeping every few seconds, monitoring his heart beat. It gave Amy a horrible feeling. The doctor came over to her. Um, is he going to be OK? Hes not going to die, is he? Amy choked out the words, hardly daring to mention death. The doctor looked uncomfortable, as if trying to search for the right words. We discovered some severe internal bleeding, and weve basically done all we can for him. There is perhaps a slight chance he will survive. But saying that, it is most likely that yes, he could die. Im very sorry, but we have tried. No no, he cant die. Amy was too shocked to cry. He cant, he cant The doctors words, she knew, would haunt her for a long time, perhaps forever. James was likely to die? To her, it wasnt possible. All she wanted to do was be with him, be there for him. She rushed over to him and knelt beside him, holding his hand in her own. James can you hear me? I love you so much, with all my heart, I really do Silent tears ran down her cheeks as she talked. I cant live without you here, Jimmy, I need you so much, it hurts. Youre the most amazing guy I have ever met, I love you. She leaned over and kissed his lips softly - perhaps the last kiss he would ever share with anyone. Amy shuddered at the thought. I love you James, she whispered, before breaking down in tears. She looked at her mother, who was crying too, watching her own daughter being as upset as this. Suddenly the door opened, and James parents, two brothers and sister walked in. Id better leave, whispered Amys mum. See you later, honey. Amy thought about the times she had said that to James - and now she might not see him later. She just had to pray. Mel burst into tears when she saw the state her brother was in. Amy put her arm around her, and they sat in silence, with Mel sniffling every now and then, and the regular beep sounding. Their Mum was crying too, and Chris was trying not to. Nick was just staring at his brother, in complete shock. A few of James friends from school arrived to say goodbye - goodbye forever? Amy hoped not, but she had a sinking feeling, growing deeper every second. She was praying that he would be OK - he didnt deserve this. She wished it was herself in his place, lying motionless on the bed, falling into darkness forever. About half an hour passed with nothing happening. Amy knew none of them would be leaving tonight. She wanted to be able to just relax, knowing that James would be OK tomorrow. But she didnt want to leave the room for a second, in case she returned and found what she didnt want to find. A nurse came in to check on him, then left after a couple of minutes. She returned every now and then, each time making Amy more nervous, in case it was a bad sign. She sat holding James hand for the next hour or so, wishing that he would just open his eyes, return to his normal lively self. She wanted that more than anything. Suddenly, instead of the machine producing short beeps every couple of seconds, there was a long beep, and it didnt stop, indicating that their worst fears had come true. No! Jimmy! Please come back, I love you, please Amy cried, tears now pouring down her cheeks. Everything became a blur to her, and where she was sitting on the floor, she rocked back and forth, sobbing, unaware of anything that was happening around her. Mel was crying hysterically, and Chris and even Nick both had tears rolling down their cheeks. Their parents were hugging each other, sobbing. It was one of the saddest things Amy had seen - who deserved to have to bear the pain of living through the death of their own child? The doctor arrived shortly after, and looked at everyone sadly. Amy suddenly felt sorry for him - he probably had to watch this sort of scene quite a lot. He told them that they ought to leave the room, so Amy quickly kissed James hand and reluctantly stood up, making for the door. With one look back at his body, she opened it and faced the world once again. Chapter 5 It was Amys decision. She had to do it - it was the only way she could get back with the guy she loved so much. Her mother knocked on the bathroom door. You there, Amy? Youve been in there a while. There was no answer. She opened the door to reveal something that gave her a shock. Amy!? She rushed over to her daughter, who was lying on the floor motionless. Whether she was alive or not, she didnt know. Amy wake up please Her mother noticed a small empty bottle close to Amy, and she picked it up, knowing straight away that Amy had taken an overdose. She gasped, and knew that it was too late to do anything. She reached over and picked up a piece of paper which had fallen onto the floor. As soon as she had read it, she burst into tears. It read:- Im sorry to all my family and friends, but I feel that I cannot go on without James in my life. So I have decided to join him. I know its unfair on those who care about me, but I love him too much and it is the only way I can be with him. Love always, Amy xxxxx P.S. True love lasts forever, and now were back together |
