Together Forever?
The rain was pouring down hard like tiny pieces of led. Streetlights dimly lit up the empty high-street. The heavy pounding of feet could be heard in the flat above. Ally sat alone in her flat starring at the blank television screen in front of her. All she wanted to do was go to sleep, but she wanted to stay awake, she needed to stay awake. She knew if she didn’t he’d be gone in the morning and that tomorrow at the same time she’d be up again starring mindlessly at the television screen. She looked at her watch 1:05 am and he still wasn’t home, she knew she’d have to give up and decided to go to bed. When she finally did, he came home. He walked in quietly; he saw all the lights were off so he assumed that she’d gone to bed. Matt never wanted it to be this way, he wanted him and Ally to be happy together and to spend time with each other and they had in the beginning, but things had got steadily worse. He walked into the bedroom and saw her lying there alone; he gently pulled her brown hair away from her neck and kissed her softly, then went to sleep holding her in his arms.
Matt got woken up by the sound of his alarm; he rolled over and looked at the time 4:30 am. He struggled to get out of bed, but knew he had to otherwise he’d miss the train. He took one last look at Ally who was still asleep and closed the door gently behind him. On the train all he could think about was Ally and how they hadn’t spoken for days, not through choice though. He got off the train at Charring Cross and made his way to the black people mover which was waiting outside for him.
Ally woke up rubbing her eyes gently, she rolled over to see if he was still there but he’d gone, just like she’d expected. She could still smell him though, that used to be enough, but it wasn’t anymore. Ally got dressed and made her way to the record store where she worked thinking about Matt and what he was doing right now.
Matt got out of the car and headed through the big glass doors to enter a small recording studio where he found his friends James and Charlie sitting down with what looked like magazine reporters.
"Matt you looked shattered"
"I’ve had better days" and he sat down next to Charlie before being asked a million and one questions which he had been asked before.
Once the reporters had left Matt picked up his mobile and was about to call Ally before James interrupted.
"Matt what’s up, you hardly answered any of those questions we were asked and you look like shit"
"Thanks, I’m just tired mate. Wasn’t home until gone 1"
"I don’t know why you just don’t stay in the hotel like me and Charlie"
"I told you, I wanted to see Ally"
"Oh yeah, how is she?"
"I wouldn’t know she was asleep when I got in and when I left this morning. We haven’t spoken for days. I just want us to spend some time together"
"I’m sure if you talk to Fletch he’ll sort you out with some time off"
Just as James said this Fletch walked in.
"Hello lads, hope your all ready for a hard working day?"
Ally sat at the counter tapping a pen angrily against the cash register. She thought back to when she met Matt for the first time. He came into the record store asking for some random CD which he claimed no-one else had. Ally remembers her boss saying they didn’t have it, but Ally knew what Matt was talking about and told him where he could get it. For the following months Matt was constantly coming into the store, then one day he came in and told Ally about him and his mates getting a record deal. He also told her how he promised himself that if they did that he was going to ask her out. That was over a year ago. She sighed and pulled out a notebook from under the counter and began writing.
"C’mon lads" Fletch said in an effortless tone trying to encourage the guys into their car, but they were too busy signing autographs and talking to fans, which had camped outside the Universal offices.
"So you’ve been out here all night?" Charlie asked puzzled he really couldn’t believe the dedication of their fans sometimes.
"Yeah" replied a petite blonde girl about half the size of Charlie.
"You’re my favorite member of the band though"
Charlie blushed before heading off into the car where an angry Fletch stood waiting. He was shortly followed by Matt and James.
"Guy’s were now half an hour behind schedule"
"Sorry Fletch, but there our fans they mean a lot to us" James replied firmly before he began to read some of the letters fans had given him.
"Well you’re going to have to work late otherwise I’ll be in trouble" and he sat round firmly in the front seat.
"Fletch I can’t I’ll miss my train home, I need to see Ally" Matt leaned forward, but Fletch didn’t answer. He sat back and starred out the window, before pulling his mobile from his bag and began to call Ally.
"I’m going on my break now Mark, I’ll be back in an hour" Ally grabbed her bag before walking out of the record store and heading into the busy town centre. She reached in her bag and saw she had a miss call on her phone from Matt. She thought she should ring him back so she dialed his number.
"Hey babe, how are you?"
"I’m good thanks hunny, it’s so good to hear your voice" Ally was so happy to be talking to him, it seemed like they hadn’t spoken forever.
"Tell me about it, I came home last night but you were asleep. I didn’t want to wake you"
"I wish you had, I miss you. So are you coming home tonight?"
Matt felt his throat close up. He didn’t want to tell her he wasn’t but he had to.
"Sorry babe I can’t, were running behind schedule and I’m not going to be able to catch the last train"
Ally’s heart sank, but she knew how important Matt’s job was to him.
"Alright then"
"I’m really sorry, but I’m going to talk to Fletch about some time off"
"Don’t do that, if you have to work you have to work"
"I’m sorry babe I’ve got to go, I’ll call you later"
"Ok then, love you"
"I love you to" and Matt hung up the phone. He felt sick, numb, hollow inside. Ally used to be his first priority, and now the one person who meant the most to him was 2nd best.
Ally put her phone back in her bag and sat down quietly on a bench. She loved Matt, but she was beginning to have doubts. It was hard on her in the beginning when Matt had to lie about having a girlfriend but she got used to it and eventually Matt told everyone. Ally didn't know wha to think, it wasn't as if she was going to dump him, but something had to be done.
"How fit was that girl?" James asked rhetorically as they walked into their dressing room after shooting the first part of their new video.
"I don’t know mate I’ve seen better" Charlie replied before falling effortlessly onto a nearby sofa.
"You don’t like her because she’s a brunette, Matt tell him"
Matt looked up from under his baseball cap and just gave James a casual glance.
"No good asking him, Matt won’t even look at another girl"
"What’s that supposed to mean?"
"You know perfectly well, ever since you’ve been out publicly with Ally you don’t know other women exist" Charlie didn’t want to argue with Matt but he was pissed off with his recent attitude.
"That’s not true" Matt snapped standing up.
"What so you do look at other women?" Charlie was determined to win.
"No, yes oh piss off Charlie" and Matt stormed out slamming the door behind him.
Ally walked slowly through the town back to the record store. She just kept thinking about Matt and her. When she got back to the store she saw her boss Mark reading something.
"Hey Mark what are you reading?"
"I found this notebook under the counter it’s got some really good lyrics in it, do you know who it belongs to?"
Ally looked around hesitantly; she couldn’t believe that she had forgotten her book. It’s not as if she was ashamed about what was in it, but is was personal stuff.
"It’s mine"
"Well girl you’ve definitely got talent, you ever thought about sending some of this stuff of to a record company?"
"No I just do it when I can’t think properly, no big deal"
"Well if you ever do…"
"Yeah I know. Can I have it back?"
"Yeah sure, take the afternoon off anyway. You haven’t been concentrating today so I suggest you go home and don’t come back until you’ve sorted it out"
"Thanks Mark" and Ally took her notebook and shoved it in her bag. She didn’t want to go home if Matt wasn’t going to be there, but what else was there to do?
Matt just kept walking he didn’t want to be around "These" people anymore. Fletch walked into the guy’s dressing room to find that Matt had gone.
"Where’s Mr. Willis?"
"He stormed out a while ago, we’ve tried ringing him but his phone is switched off"
"Well what happened?"
Charlie didn’t want to tell Fletch but it looked like he didn’t have much of a choice.
"We had an argument; I said that he’d got really boring because all he did was sulk around about his girlfriend"
"That’s putting it in a nutshell" James chipped in at the end of Charlie’s sentence.
"Ok well we can’t finish the day without him, so I guess you guys can have the afternoon off. I’ll see you tomorrow morning" and Fletch walked out.
"Charlie do you reckon Matt will be alright?"
"Yeah you know what he’s like, tomorrow morning it’ll be like nothing ever happened".
"Hope your right"
Ally walked up the stairs which led to her apartment. She put her key in the lock and turned it slowly. Another night in she thought to herself and pushed the door open. She walked through the apartment dumping her bag on the sofa and heading towards the bedroom. She looked around, something was different, she looked over to the bathroom door. The light was on, Ally walked towards the door out of curiosity more than anything else. When she pushed it ajar she saw Matt standing there shaving, she just stood there. She was scared to move closer incase she was imagining it.
"Matt?"
"Ally" Matt turned round to face her, it felt weird. He hadn’t seen her to talk to for so long. He wasn’t sure how to behave towards her. Ally walked closer putting her arms around his neck and began kissing him gently. Matt wrapped his arms around her tightly and kissed her back.
"I’ve missed you, I’ve missed this, and I’ve missed us" Ally couldn’t get out the words she wanted to say. She just wanted Matt to hold her.
Ally took Matt’s hand and led him into the bedroom; she sat down on the edge of the bed and pulled Matt in closer. He literally fell on top of her; he looked her dead in the eye just
staring. Her smooth brown hair sprawled out behind her head, and her ocean blue eyes sparkled. She smiled slightly up at Matt. He looked even better since she last saw him, his blonde hair had been replaced with a dark shade of black and he’d pierced his left ear. Ally never really commented on Matt’s style as it changed as often as his hair did. He still had his cheeky grin though, the same grin which millions of girls across the world would love to see this close up. Ally bit the bottom of her lip hard before Matt kissed her on the lips, Ally kissed him back and pulled him in closer. She pulled his top off revealing his stomach. It was more toned than Ally had remembered, but still they continued to kiss.
Matt woke up and looked down at Ally whose head was resting on his stomach. He hadn’t woken up like this for ages. Ally began to stir; she looked up and saw Matt smiling down at her.
"Morning gorgeous"
"Hey" and she rubbed her eyes just to make sure he was really there.
"Aren’t you supposed to be at work?"
"Yeah, well I rang Fletch and told him I was ill and he said I could have a couple of days off"
"Not bad" and Ally kissed him softly on the lips before attempting to get up
"Where are you going?"
"I’m going to get some breakfast, do you want anything?"
"No, I’ve got to go out"
"Where?"
"Just places, I won’t be long" Matt got out of bed and pulled on his jeans which were in a pile on the floor. His search for a clean t-shirt took a little longer than he had anticipated, but he found one eventually.
"Ok babe I’ll be back in an hour at the most, don’t miss me too much" and he was suddenly gone.
Ally sat on the kitchen counter staring at the toaster waiting for her toast. She couldn’t get over how good it was to have Matt back, ok he made a mess and snored a lot but that was all part of Matt and why she loved him.
"Honey I’m home" said a cheeky Matt as he strolled through the door.
"Hey, you alright?" replied Ally as she gazed up from her laptop
"You’re still not dressed" Matt said as he strolled over and sat down opposite Ally.
"Well I didn’t think there was much point of getting changed" and she gave Matt a slight wink, before closing down her computer and sitting next to Matt.
"Where did you go anyway?"
"That would be telling"
"How about a kiss and tell" and Ally kissed him hard on the lips and climbed on top of him.
"You’ll find out later" Matt smiled and pulled Ally closer.
"Well if you’re not going to tell me then there will be none of this" and she pulled herself off him and walked away.
"Well if you’re going to be like that" Matt lept up from the sofa and chased after Ally who ran into the bedroom.
"You’re going to what?" and she tried to run past Matt who caught her in his arms. He carried her over to the bed and put her down.
"I love you Allison Blake"
"I love you too Matthew James Willis" Matt frowned at the mention of his full name, but leaned in and kissed Ally hard on the lips. Ally began to take Matt’s clothes off and Matt did the same to her. There bodies grinded together, Matt was so happy to just be at home and not out in the public eye. Also
he was relieved to be having sex, he didn’t dare think about how long it had been.
Matt and Ally laid down facing each other, suddenly Matt left the room and came back with a white envelope in his hand.
"This is for you and me, but I’ll let you open it"
Ally sat up attentively and delicately opened the envelope; she pulled out two plane tickets to Greece.
"Oh Matt!" and Ally leaned over hugging him tightly.
"So you like it then?"
"You bet, but what about your work? You can’t be off forever"
"I won’t be I’m sure Fletch will be ok with it and I can’t work like this I’ve been so wound up recently. I rang up Mark and he said it was cool for you to have two weeks off work from the store"
"You’ve really thought this through, I’m impressed"
"Well to be honest I’ve only really thought about it since this morning"
Ally smiled and laid back in the bed, she looked again at the tickets and saw that they leave tomorrow morning.
"Well I’ve got to go, I’ll be back later"
"Go where?"
"Shopping, I don’t have anything to take with me" and she began looking round on the floor for some clothes.
"You’re such a girly girl at times"
"I’m sorry that I want to look good, I’ll be back later. Maybe you should go down to the record company and sort out your time off, I don’t think you’ll be particularly popular if you just disappear"
"Yeah I’ll go later, come back to bed" and he held his arms out in some kind of plea.
"Later, I’ll give you a ring and meet you. Love you" and she walked out of the flat.
Matt sat there alone in the flat; he looked round at the photos which were scattered over the walls in different style frames. He saw one of him, Charlie and James; he remembered the day it was taken the day they got the record deal the day he asked Ally out. He looked at his bedside table, one photo caught his eye. It was of him and a blonde girl. Her name was Isabelle; they had met last summer at a road show the band had been performing at. She was amazing; Matt remembered how they spent the evenings together talking about whatever. He hadn’t spoken to her since the band had became famous, mainly because he had to change his number so many times that he’d lost most of his contacts. He’d never told Ally about her, there was never any need to. After all he loved Ally he was sure of it.
"Ahhh…Mr. Willis nice of you to join us" Matt walked into the office where he found Fletch, James and Charlie sitting down.
"Please pull up a chair" Matt sat down in the empty chair which was next to Charlie, he didn’t feel like talking too much.
"Ok so before I fill you in with what’s going to go on, I just want to sort out this so called feud between Matt and Charlie"
"Yeah man I’m sorry, just a bit fed up at the moment. Ally’s a great girl I didn’t mean to have a go".
"That’s cool no worries"
"Ok well now we’ve got that sorted, I’ve got some good news. As of next week you can have a week off. The single should do well if you promote it enough this week".
"Fletch man you’re a legend" James said.
"Cheers James now if you’d like to go back to the recording studio you’ve got an album to finish. Charlie and James left the room leaving Matt and Fletch alone. He turned round and realized that Matt was still in the room.
"You alright Matt?"
"Well I just thought I’d tell you that I’m going away tomorrow for about two weeks"
"What do you mean tell me? Matt you can’t just take a holiday when you feel like it you don’t have a regular job, and there are other people to consider like James and Charlie".
"I know, but I’ve felt so shit recently and I don’t think I can take much more of this"
"Look, I’ll talk it over with James and Charlie see if they can cope on their own. I’ll release a statement saying that you’re exhausted and are talking a couple of weeks off. However you try anything like this again and I won’t be as understanding".
"Thanks Fletch, I appreciate it" and he walked away. He thought about going to see Charlie and James, but realized that would cause too many problems. Instead he pulled his baseball cap down and walked out of the offices and along the street. He tried to avoid being recognized as hard as it was he seemed to manage it.
Ally walked around the shops, she’d bought loads of stuff already but was so happy she didn’t seem to care. It was great to have Matt back home it felt right. Although she knew that sooner or later he’d have to go back to work and that things would be as they were before.
"Hey" said Ally as she answered her phone
"Alright babe, is it cool if I come to meet you now?"
"Yeah sure I’m outside Starbucks, did you talk to Fletch?"
"Yeah, he wasn’t to happy about it but reluctantly let me take the time off"
"Ok, so I’ll cya in a bit"
"And you"
Ally stood waiting for Matt, she looked at her watch he gave it to her for their first year anniversary. She loved it so much and knew it must have cost a fortune.
"Hey you" and Matt hugged her gently from behind
"Alright?"
"I am now, you bought enough stuff?"
"It’s not all for me"
"Whatever let’s go get some lunch I’m starving" and they headed into the shopping centre.
"Matt, over here" Matt looked over and saw a guy with camera taking photos of him and Ally. Usually Matt didn’t mind as it was all part of the job, but when Ally was involved he did care after all she didn’t ask for any of this. They just kept walking Ally didn’t know which way to look so just kept hold of Matt’s hand and looked down. After they had lunch they thought that it would probably be best if they went home.
The next morning both Matt and Ally woke up early so they could get to the airport in time. Ally really wasn’t an early morning person and Matt had to literally carry her to the car which was waiting outside.
When they got to the airport there flight was delayed so they made themselves as comfortable as they could in the plastic airport chairs. Ally cuddled up to Matt, he looked down at her she was so gorgeous he moved away a piece of her hair which covered her face. Suddenly she stirred waking up slowly.
"Hey, sorry I didn’t mean to fall asleep"
"It’s ok you look cute"
"If only, is the flight still delayed?"
"Yeah I’ll go and see when it’s due to leave, be back in a minute"
Matt walked away from Ally and headed towards the departure screens. He looked up and saw that there flight was due to leave in an hour. He made his way back to Ally who hadn’t moved since he last left her.
"Come on then girlie we better head into the departure lounge"
"Yeah ok, I’m just going to go to the toilet I’ll meet you there"
"Alright cya in a minute" and he kissed gently on the cheek before walking towards the departure lounge with his and Ally’s entire luggage in toe. He waited by the gate until Ally arrived.
"Let’s go on holiday then" and Ally came walking down the slope. Matt starred at her in awe, she was so beautiful and sometimes even he wandered why she went out with him. When they were on the plane Matt looked round at everyone Ally sat firmly beside him, he couldn’t help but feel something wasn’t right but he just shacked it off and listened to his music during the flight.
When they landed at the airport and had gathered their luggage together, they got in a taxi which would take them to the airport. Ally was wide awaked by now after sleeping for practically the whole flight. After they had checked into the hotel they made there way to their room.
"Matt put me down" screamed Ally who was being carried through the doorway and placed onto the bed. Matt headed out onto the balcony and looked out at the view.
"Isn’t it beautiful Al?"
"Yeah it’s much nicer than back home, all you can see there is chimneys and rooftops"
"Well that’s what you get for living in the big smoke I guess"
"Yeah, maybe when you’re done with this whole pop star thing we can live here"
"Yeah perhaps, come on I need a drink"
And they headed down into the bar area. Matt went over to the bar whilst Ally went to find them a table.
"Hey, can I have a pint of Stella and a Vodka and orange please"
"Yeah that’ll be €9 please" luckily the barman spoke English. Matt waited for his drinks and then took them over to where Ally was sitting.
"I was thinking after this why don’t we go for a walk or something?" Ally suggested yawning in-between every sentence.
"Maybe another night, you look really tired perhaps we should go to bed after"
"You’re right, thanks" and she drank her drink slowly whilst Matt literally downed his beer.
"Steady on"
"Sorry just abit thirsty, you want another one?"
"No I think I might go to bed now, you coming?"
"I’m going to look around for a little bit"
"Do you want me to come with you?"
"Nah its ok, you go to bed I’ll be up later"
"Ok night sexy" and she hugged him tightly before kissing him on the cheek.
Matt watched her walk up the stairs before going back to the bar to get another drink. He decided to sit at the bar to save time in-between drinking. He was sitting staring at the 6th beer glass which stood in front of him; suddenly he heard a very familiar voice.
"Well, well, well, Matt Willis never thought I'd see you again"
Matt turned round to see a tall blonde girl standing infront of him.
"Isabelle? What the hell?"
"That’s a nice hello"
"Sorry" and he put his hand out, but instead she pulled him into a very intimate hug. Matt was abit overwhelmed she smelt really good it reminded him of last summer. Suddenly he pulled away and Izzy stepped back.
"So what brings you to this part of the world?"
"I’m on holiday; you know taking a break from work" he sounded hesitant.
"On your own?" Matt felt her slender hand touch his arm his mind closed up, he wasn’t on his own was he? No his girlfriend was upstairs coping from jet lag.
"No, I’m with a friend"
"That’s alright then, do you fancy going for a walk?" and before he had time to answer she had taken his hand and was leading him out of the hotel and onto the boardwalk outside. They walked along for abit before reaching stopping to look out at the view.
"I’ve thought about you a lot you know?"
"Really?" Matt didn’t know what to say, he wanted to know why he lied to Isabelle in the first place. He loved Ally, but instead of standing looking out at the sunset with her he was with another girl from his past. Someone who he once felt something for, but now he just thought she was fit.
"Matt is everything ok? You haven’t spoken for a while?"
"No, I’m not. There’s something I’ve got to tell you" Matt looked down at the beautiful girl that stood in front of him.
"Izzy you’re beautiful, amazing, smart…" and before he could finish he felt Izzy’s lips against his. He pushed her away suddenly.
"What’s wrong?" she looked shocked almost as if nobody ever turns her down.
"You never let me finish, you are all of those things, but you’re not Ally"
"Who’s Ally?"
"My girlfriend" Matt felt relived as if a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
"You said you didn’t have a girlfriend?"
"I lied, I don’t know why"
"Matt you clearly don’t know how you feel about this girl, so I suggest you use this time to figure it out"
"Yeah I guess, thanks for being so understanding and not slapping me or anything"
"You’re ok, take care and you never know I might see you around" and she put out her hand, but instead Matt pulled her in for a hug.
The next morning Matt woke up in bed with Ally. He looked over she was still sleeping; Matt lied there just starring at her. He didn’t give much thought about yesterday night and what happened with Izzy after all it meant nothing and was a complete misunderstanding. Suddenly the phone in their room rang; Matt answered it as Ally was still asleep.
"Hello?"
"Hello is a Miss Wilson there please?"
"Sorry she’s sleeping at the moment, is it important?"
"If you could pass this message on to her please"
"Yeah sure"
Matt put down the phone, he felt numb. How was he going to tell Ally, he decided to wake her.
"Al, Al, wake up" she began to stir slowly.
"Matt what is it?"
"There’s something I’ve got to tell you, sit up"
"Ok Matt this seems serious, what is it?"
"The hotel just rang and your mum left a message"
"Mum, why would my mum leave a message, she knows I’m away"
"It’s your dad?"
"What about him?" Ally was scared she didn’t really know what to think.
Matt froze he couldn’t tell her, how could he? He felt seriously sick, but he felt Ally grab his hand.
"He was rushed into hospital last night after having a heart attack"
"Well is he ok?"
"I don’t know how to tell you"
"Well try, come on Matt please your scaring me" He looked at her with her eyes welling up with fear.
"He died this morning, Ally I’m so sorry"
Ally sat there numb, she didn’t know what to do, her dad was dead and she was in a different country. Matt put his arm around her and just held her close to scared to say anything. After all what could he say? After a while Ally eventually spoke.
"Matt?"
"Yeah?"
"I want to go home" and with those words and some good organizational skills they were leaving the hotel and heading for the airport.
When they landed at Heathrow airport and had made there way through customs, nothing could have prepared Matt or Ally for what was waiting outside for them.
"Matt is it true?"
"Ally how did you take the news?"
"How long has it been happening?"
All these questions were being fired at them from reporters which were waiting outside the airport. Suddenly Matt and Ally were pulled into a people mover which was nearby and were driven off away from the hoards of people that previously surrounded them.
"What the hell was that?" said Matt
"That was the result of this" and the guy that had pulled them away threw a paper at Matt. On the front was a picture of Matt and Izzy kissing and the headline read BUSTED: MATT AND HIS SECRET SPANISH LOVE. Matt looked up shocked. Ally leaned over looking at the paper.
"Al it isn’t true I swear"
"This was only taken yesterday; look there’s the hotel we were staying at"
"Ally it isn’t what it looks like, I love you and I can explain"
She looked up at him and then back down at the newspaper. She didn’t know what to think, could he really cheat on her?
"Could you drop me off at the nearest train station please?"
"Ally please don’t, you’re not in a good frame of mind right now"
"Frame of mind, Matt my dad has died and I’ve just found out that you cheated on me when we were away how am I supposed to be?"
"It’s only a kiss and I didn’t even inciate it"
"So you say" the car pulled over, Ally’s voice was wobbly and shaky she didn’t know what to do or where she was going to go, but she just pulled down her baseball cap that belonged to Matt and left the car.
"Ally don’t do it please?"
"I’m going to my mum’s don’t contact me" and she walked off teary eyed and emotionless not knowing what to do. She thought about seeing her mum and began to look at the train station for the next train to Sussex. Matt watched her walk away through the crowds he tried to fight back the tears that he could feel coming. The car drove on and eventually landed up at the record company. He had to be taken round the back as there were swarms of fans and reporters outside.
Matt walked through the corridors and up the flights of stairs until he came to a conference room he felt dreadful he’d just lost his girlfriend nothing seemed to matter anymore, as he walked in he saw Fletch, James, Charlie and two other guys sitting around the large table. Matt went over and sat down.
"It’s almost like de ja vu" said James chuckling.
Fletch threw a newspaper in Matt’s direction.
"Care to explain"
"There’s nothing to explain"
"It’s Izzy isn’t it?" Charlie said looking at the paper closer.
"Yeah it is"
"How did Ally take the news?" asked James in a caring tone.
"What news? There was nothing to tell. Her dad died this morning and she thinks I cheated on her and she never wants to see me again"
"Normally I don’t care about you’re public affairs, but for some reason this particular storyline has decided to be incredibly popular with journalists all over".
"Honestly Fletch nothing happened and you know what the press is like it’ll all die down in a couple of days"
"I know, but it’s you I’m more worried about and the reputation of the band after all you guys are my main concern. I don’t really want Busted to be seen as the next E17"
"We don’t do drugs Fletch"
"Yeah well its girls one minute band swipes the next I never know what any of you are going to do or say next"
"Why are you having ago we bring in the cash and record sales" Charlie hated it when people assumed things about him and his mates especially when it came to musical disputes.
"Record sales, now there’s a good laugh, do you know where you’re single is looking to enter the charts this weekend?"
"Top 3" James muttered from under his breath.
"If only, you’ll be lucky if it enters the top 10"
"Why we’ve done all the promotion for it the only other thing we can do is actually go and buy the CD ourselves"
"Yeah you two have done all the promotion, but some of you prefer to take fancy holidays with girlfriends than pursue a career"
"I was going to loose her if I didn’t do something, and you were understanding when we talked it over"
"That was then this is now, if you guys don’t sort yourselves out drastic measures will be taken, think about it" and Fletch left the conference room with the other two guys on toe.
James, Charlie and Matt sat in the room silently. They just looked t each other nobody knew what to say.
"So what are we going to do? Fletch seemed pretty pissed off with us"
"Yeah, I reckon we should apologize" Charlie suggested, after all he wasn’t in a position to loose his record deal.
"For what? Being ourselves and having a life outside the band?" Matt was infuriated he knew he wasn’t thinking straight but one thing was clear, and that was that being in the limelight wasn’t fun anymore, he missed being well average.
"God Matt what is your problem?"
"I’m not the one with a problem, you two are if we were asked to jump off a cliff you would do it, but I’d stand at the top laughing. Being in the band used to be fun. James don’t you remember?"
James looked up at his friend he knew what he meant, but he liked where they were now.
"Were not playing to crowds of one anymore or practicing in Charlie’s summer house, we’ve made it".
"Well I’ve had enough I quit"
"Quit you can’t leave the band" Charlie stood up and looked Matt dead in the eye.
"I can and I just have, come join me in the real world when you’re ready" and he walked out of the room and went out the way he came in. He was relieved if not anything else, but something was still wrong. He made his way back to the flat, he hoped Ally might be home, but she wasn’t. As he looked round everything he reminded him of her. He walked into the bedroom and saw all the pictures of them together; he saw the picture of Izzy and immediately picked it up and threw it across the wall.
"How did things get this bad" he spoke out loud and fell onto the bed. He thought about going home, but didn’t want to give his family any grief. His phone was ringing, he looked at it FLETCH CALLING flashed across the screen. Matt chucked it across the room and watched it fall into little pieces much like his life seemed to be doing now.
Ally hadn’t seen or spoken to Matt for nearly a week now. She had read all the papers and seen all the TV reports about Busted splitting up, she wanted to ring him and see how he was but she couldn’t. Her dad’s funeral was awful reporters were everywhere trying to get Ally’s perspective. All she wanted was Matt to be there holding her hand and to tell her that everything was going to be ok, but he wasn’t.
Matt woke up early on Saturday morning to the loud banging that was at his door. He opened it to find a red eyed James standing there.
"James what do you want?"
"For you to re-consider leaving the band" He stood in the doorway still.
"I’m not going to if that’s all you want please go I don’t have time for this"
"What about the last year has it mean nothing to you?"
"Yeah it has meant something to me, but Ally meant more I love her James"
"There will be other girls"
"No there won’t, now please leave me alone"
And with those words James left and Matt shut the door behind him. Five minutes later he heard the banging again.
"James I told you to leave me alone" but as he opened the door it wasn’t James standing there, but it was Ally.
"Ally, I thought..."
"So did I, is it ok if I come in?"
"Yeah sure please" Matt wanted to hug her and kiss her all over but he couldn’t he was worried.
"How have you been? I read the papers is it true"
"Yeah I couldn’t do it anymore, I want different things now. How about you?"
"Not good, dad’s funeral was a nightmare"
"I’m sorry; it’s not fair on you. After all you didn’t ask for any of that"
"I know, but I knew when I said yes to going out with you what I was in for, after all I loved you"
"And do now?"
"I’m not so sure anymore"
"Well I still love you, and I want to be with you more than ever, but I’m not going to force you into doing anything you don’t want to do"
"You always know what to say, I’d better go just wanted to get some of my stuff and see how you were"
"Ok then"
Matt saw her leave and head into the bedroom. Ally went to leave the flat, but Matt couldn’t just let her go. He grabbed her arm and kissed her firmly on the lips.
"Don’t tell me you don’t miss that because I know I do"
"Matt please"
"Look if you want to be with me meet me at the airport at 11:00pm tonight if you’re not there I’ll leave you alone"
Ally looked him in the eye then left. Matt’s heart sank, but he knew that he wanted her and if she wanted him then she’ll be at the airport.
Matt was waiting by the departure gate constantly checking his watch.
"Waiting for me?"
Matt looked round to see Ally standing in front of him, he hugged her tightly and grabbed her arm before walking through the departure gate holding her hand firmly.
"It’s ok Matt I’m not going anywhere, you’re stuck with me"
"I can’t think of anyone I’d rather be with"
