Someone Special

The beautiful green kite soared powerfully through the sky, diving as I pulled harder on the lines, making it spin in circles. I looked over at him for one brief second, our eyes met, and the kite came tumbling down, burying its nose in the damp sand. I looked up again and he was gone. I thought I must have been dreaming, somebody that perfect couldnt possible be real. I yarned and started to pack away the kite. I stared out at the sea for a while, and watched the waves crash against the shore, wondering if I would ever see that person again.

Are you coming tonight? Katie called from downstairs.
I dont know if I really want to I slowly replied, and waited for her response.
You are coming and thats final! Katie said, stomping up the stairs.
James and I have something important to tell you, so you have to be there, I wasnt asking for you to say no, I was asking so I could make sure you were going. she shouted.
And breathe I mumbled, when she had finally finished.
So you are coming tonight, right? she asked.
Do I have a choice? I replied.

Jess. Katie ran up to me, hugging me. I thought you werent going to come.
I said I was earlier, didnt I? I attempted a smile. I went to sit down in our usual spot, as Katie went to the bar to order our drinks. I wasnt expecting her back any time soon, as James was working behind the bar tonight.
I tried to listen to the live bands, but kept getting distracted, remembering those hazel eyes staring at me. Then suddenly I was woken from my thoughts by the sound of an angel. I looked over at the stage, and nearly fell backwards. It was him. It was the guy from the previous night. I was mesmerized by his voice, I was absorbed in his music, and there was just something about him that held me captivated.
When he finished singing, he walked over to the bar. My eyes never left him. I was drawn to him, and before I knew what I was doing, I had stood up and started walking in his direction. He couldnt have known I was behind him, I didnt make a sound, but he turned around and looked into my eyes. I froze; a shiver went down my spine. He grinned at me, revealing lovely white teeth. My cheeks started to go red, and I stupidly stared at the floor hoping he wouldnt see my embarrassment. When I looked up again, he had vanished.
Jess. James smiled, waving a hand in front of my face. I think youre in love He said laughing. I poked my tongue out at him, and turned to walk back to my seat.
Wait Jess, the guy left you something. he called. I tuned around shocked and retrieved the letter James was holding out for me. Oh, before you go back to your seat, I think it is about time, me and Kate told you the big news! He said excitedly, jumping up and down like a little boy. Katie show her the ring he pushed Katie over to me. I wanted to open the letter. What could he want to tell me? I heard Katie squealing, but wasnt sure why she was making that high pitched sound.
Arent you happy for us? Katie looked at the ground.
Sorry? I asked confused. It suddenly clicked, what James had said before about a ring, I joined in with Katie, and started squealing, hugging both her and James.
I am not just happy for you two. I squeaked.
Im VERY happy! The celebrations went on all through the nightand the next morning.

It wasnt until I woke up the next morning, with a pounding head, that I remembered the letter. I searched my pockets, and found it. I ripped it open, to read Meet me on the beach at twelve. My headache had disappeared as soon as I had read it. I looked over at my clock, to see that I had just 15 minutes to get dressed, and walk down to the beach. I ran around my room, tripping over dirty clothes, trying to find something, anything, that would make me look reasonably presentable.

I walked down the path, leading to the beach, the happiest I had ever been. There was a light breeze, and the trees swayed backwards and forth. He was sitting on a large rock, facing the sea. I watched him for a few minutes. He just sat there, and I just stared. He turned his head to face me, and smiled. I blushed, knowing he knew I had been staring. This time I didnt make the mistake of looking away though, I walked up to him, and smiled in return.

For the next few months I was in heaven. All I knew about him was that he was called Matt, yet he knew everything about me. I was astonished at first about how much he knew about me, without me telling him, yet I soon realised that he wasnt just an ordinary person, that he was something special. He took me to places that I had never been. He showed me things that I had never seen. He taught me how to live. He taught me how to feel.
On the day of James and Katies wedding, he left. We were sitting on the beach, he had his arm wrapped around me and he turned my head to face his.
I have to go today. He said looking deep into my eyes. He wiped away the tear that fell down my cheek.
But I need you I cried.
I came here to help you Jess, I achieved what I came here to do, and now I must go. There was a silence, as we watched the birds fly high in the sky.
But I thought you loved me I turned my head away from him.
I loved you I shouted, my voice full of pain and anger.
I love you I screamed. I ran into the sea, the water cold against my legs.
See, I still need your help I sobbed. I felt his arms, as he lifted me up and stroked my hair.
I do love you, and I wish I didnt have to go, but I was never meant to stay here forever, I dont have any choice but to leave you. I remember him biting his lip nervously, the sad look in his eyes, as he placed me back down on the sand. Jess I will always be around when you need me. He gave me one final kiss, and walked away.
What if I need you always I shouted at him, yet he never replied.
