Matt and Charlie rushed inside the hotel room, and closed the door behind them. James grabbed the remote control and flicked the TV on.
“Half of London and areas have already been evacuated. People in the South of London can’t go anywhere; roads have been permanently closed. Thousands of people are looking in Death’s eyes as time wears on. The Queen and her family are not in the country at the moment, but she has been informed on the current situation. Her speech will soon be broadcasted live on this channel.”
“Who fucking cares about the fucking Queen and her fucking speeches?! We’re fucking dying here!” Matt screamed as he threw his hands up in the air in mock surrender and started wandering around the room.
“Matt, calm down. There’s nothing we can do.” James whispered as he looked at Matt who was still running about like a mad man.
“Nothing we can do? Nothing we can do, James? We’re fucking famous! We should’ve been the first people to be evacuated hours ago, for fuck’s sake!” Charlie, who’d been calm all this time and had only stared into nothing, jumped up. He grabbed Matt by the shoulders and shook him wildly.
“How can you possibly think about being famous right now, Matthew? We’re dying, we won’t see our families ever again. We’re dying!” His head turned slightly red at this point. Matt looked startled. He gasped for breath as Charlie’s hands encircled Matt’s neck and started cutting of his air supply. When Matt started to look blue, Charlie realized what he was doing and his arms went limp.
“…are trying to discharge the bomb, but to no avail as of yet. Scientists are convinced that-”
The TV got cut off, James tried the radio on the bedside cabinet, but nothing was working. The whole network was already dead. A shiver went down his spine as he felt a hand on his shoulder.
“Not long left now,” Charlie whispered as he smiled a sympathetic smile and gestured for James to join Matt and himself on the bed.
They sat in a small circle, holding each other’s hands. Matt squeezed James’ hand tightly, when he heard him sniffing softly. Charlie and Matt exchanged a look. Charlie could read the fear in Matt’s eyes. James rubbed the front of Charlie’s hand with his thumb.
There was a loud bang,
“I love you guys,” whispered Matt, before the shattered window of the hotel room blew inside, followed by an intense heat that burnt their skins immediately.
Instant death.
