Halloween 2003...
Walk Amongst the Dead in New Orleans
A Party like none we've ever had...This year we celebrated at the Parisian Courtyard Inn in the lovely and haunted Garden District of New Orleans, Lousiana.  We have rented the entire Italiante' House for our friends to stay the weekend.

Friday, Oct. 31, 2003...The Night of the Dead, Vampire Ball...
yes, the theme this year played host to the legendary vampires of New Orleans.
Where were we staying? We  rented all of the Parisian Courtyard Inn (formerly Longpre' House) in the historic Garden District.  The house is around the corner from Anne Rice's home, actually. Unfortunately we were the last guests to stay at the house, as the owner closed it and put it up for sale a few days after we left.

The Inn did not disappoint with its ghostly hosts either.  The first night Paul & I heard a woman's voice crying, and then singing.  I heard her later in the night, as well, screaming.  Followed closely by a man's footfalls on the stairs and then every doorknob on the second floor started to shake, consecutively, as if someone was trying to get into the rooms.  I'd like to note...other than Jodi & Ray (who were asleep in their room), we were the only ones in the house that night.

When the Michigan Car Contingent arrived, I had to laugh when the ghosts opened the door to greet them on the second floor.  A door that opens outward suddenly opens by itself...I don't think Heather was too thrilled at the idea of staying in the closest room, as she quickly begged to be moved!

And the first floor bathroom.  Ah yes, the location of the wierdness Niff & Kevin & I experienced on our previous stay at the house.  At least 3 of us were run out of that bathroom from fear.  Someone lurking, someone watching.  Yeah...it was creepy.
What did we do the rest of the weekend? New Orleans is a fabulous city with endless amounts of things to do and see.  (See Links.) However, Halloween in New Orleans is craziness. Sheer craziness.  Bourbon Street was as crowded as Mardi Gras, with boobs and bead flyin'!  (We acquired our fair share.)   There is so much to sightsee in Nola...walking tours of cemetaries, ghost tours, the districts...creole & seafood worth stuffing yourself with...beignets & cafe au lait at Cafe' du Monde...not to mention shopping, shopping, shopping!  And...well... MangoMango, the happiest place on Earth!  There are 3 on Bourbon Street now, and we can happily report every flavour was worth trying, most more than once!

Nuit des sorcie'res de balle de Vampire.  (Halloween Vampire Ball) We encouraged everyone to create a vampire persona based in history, lore or legend. I am thrilled to say everyone looked great!
