Selfless devotion. That is how it has been described in the dictionary. Selfless devotion. How very poetic. It's very indicative of another time? Why? Because I've seen little of it in modern society. Most people are out for themselves. There are few who believe in the selfless part, let alone the devotion.
Selfless -- giving --there is passion in selflessness. And richness
Devotion -- hope -- again, passion --happiness...and most importantly -- trust.
From this, one may initially conclude dedication to be trustful, passionate, giving. and yet, I wonder, isn't there even the slightess bit of selfishness in dedication? By virtue of being devoted to someone or something, doesn't that mean you care? And in caring comes some level of joy.
When starting to write this, I thought I had never known dedication, but that's a lie. I do know it. I AM dedicated to my daughter and my friends. Endlessly. And while I don't think that is selfless, it is devotion.
And there is love in that.
