| Some more details about me... | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| My name is Kim-Maree Goodwin and until 2001 I was a member of the Dominican Order, more particularly the 'Dominican Sisters of Eastern Australia and the Solomon Islands' for 19 years. I was born and bred in Newcastle, on the east coast of New South Wales Australia, about 2 hours drive from Sydney. I am the eldest child of four. After completing school, I won a teaching scholarship to study History and English at the University of Newcastle in 1977. I qualified thee with a B.A. Dip Ed in 1980 and took my first teaching job at St Mary's College in Gunnedah where I also worked as the 'Assistant Boarder Mistress'. Since then I have also completed qualifications for a Graduate Diploma of Arts (Religious Studies) through WACAE, now Edith Cowan University; a B.Theol and M.Theol through the Sydney College of Divinity; and a Graduate Certificate in Counselling through the Sydney Counselling Institute. My theological studies have awakened an interest in the 'Mystics', and having been Dominican, I have a special love of St Catherine of Siena, as a great woman of 'Justice and Truth', fuelled by her tremendous love for God, which comes through in her writngs. Feminist theological reflection has led me to a healthy interest in the debate about the place of women in the Catholic Church. In view of this, I am also a subscribing member of 'W.A.T.A.C' [Women and the Australian Church]. Through my theological studies, I also have a great interest in 'Ecotheology' and issues of 'Peace', 'Justice' and 'Human Rights'. I firmly believe that pursuit of these areas of theology is essential for a life authentically based on Gospel Values. These interests also led me to become a member of the Council of the 'Eremos Institute', an ecumenical Institute of Spirituality based in Sydney, for a few years. For seven years, Feb 1993 - Dec 1999, I worked as Campus Minister at ACU [Australian Catholic University] and as a result belonged to several professional organizations including the 'T.C.M.A.' [Tertiary Campus Ministry Asociation]here in Australia as well as subscribing to the 'Newman List' for Campus Ministers, through the 'Catholic Campus Ministry Association [C.C.M.A.] based in the USA. |

| In June 1999, as a result of attending a conference of W.A.T.A.C. in Alice Springs, I was lucky enough to take a side trip to Uluru [Ayers Rock]. For me it was an opportunity to learn about our Australian Indigenous People and their culture. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
