This is my brother, David. David was killed in a car accident on December 31, 1994...2 months after I was married. He was out celebrating New Year's early. He said that his New Year's Resolution was going to be to stop drinking. David never saw that New Year come in.
David had been out with his best friend. They started out over at his best friends house and his best friends wife knew they were to drunk to be going anywhere. She never tried to stop them. It was also told to our family that they had been seen at a local bar and that some of the patron's put them into their car.
David was killed less than 1/2 a mile from his house. You could see if from the scene. All this because someone didn't take the time and stop them from leaving.
David left behind a beautiful little boy. He was 3 at the time and didn't really understand where his daddy went. He is 11 now and every time he goes to the cemetary...he hugs his daddy. It's the saddest thing you can think of. Many times that little boy has said, "I wish my daddy was here to see me do this."
I only say all this in hopes to be able to reach just one person. If I can make one person stop and think before they let a friend drive off that has had to much to drink...it will be worth it.
Remember...PLEASE don't drink and drive...you have no idea how hard it is on a family when a tragady like this happens. Don't let it be someone in your family getting that call in the middle of the night and wondering what went wrong.
