Please include the following notes for the kilteely/Dromkeen
GAA club in the club notes section of the county edition of the
Limerick leader.
"Saturday night saw our exit from the Junior B football championship
when we were defeated in the replay by Knockane in Pallas. It is
a game that we could have had won on the first night but missed
the opportunity. We were always trailing knockane in Saturday night
and failed to get any fluency in our play. We were down 5 points at
half
time with a knockane goal being the big difference between both teams.
Our backs had to battle hard to clear the barrage of knockane ball
in the
first half and our forwards found it difficult to hold on to posession.
We had most of the play in the second half and created some great chances,
we narrowed the gap to 2 points and were looking good to close it even
more.
Knockane proved to be too strong for us and began to knock over a few
points
we were not strong enough on the wet night and Knockane emerged 5 point
victors and with the Mairtin O'Connor cup. We wish Knockane the very
best in
their championship progression.

That ends the junior season for this year, one with mixed results a
good
league campaign though we failed to pull it off when it really mattered.
We were defeated in two league finals and we lost our focus when Caherconlish
deffeated us in the first round JAFC. We have a very long winter where
we
all will have to take a step back and access the situation and set
a game plan
for next year which will have to be a lot more focused and committed.
We
had a very large panel of football players this year at the end of
the season
with players fighting for positions. The question must be asked where
these
guys were in March, April, May and June in preperation for the championship.
Why are they not willing to put the effort in then and bring back some
at
least one trophy to the club? It is time to dig deep and bring back
some
success for next year.
Saturday evening at 3:30 in Hospital sees our U-16 footballs take on
Garryspillane in the county final. This is our 2nd final in 2 years
being
last years winners lets hope we can do the same again this year. This
should
prove to be a tight contest and the team that wants to win it the most
will be the one with the tropyh at 4:30.
In the U-21 hurling east final next weekend we take on Caherline. Caherline
are hot favourites to win this one especially with their success this
year
on the junior seen. This time of year it is proving very difficult
to train
with the darkness drawing upon us very early and conditions being so
wet.
There is no doubt that our lads will be contesting every ball next
weekend
to get their hands on that east cup and an east u-21 medal.
Regards,
Eoin.
