Please include the following notes in the club notes section
of the Limerick leader for the Kilteely/Dromkeen GAA club.
"Crowds gathered in Cappamore last Monday night to see the
lads from Kilteely/Dromkeen take on Ahane in U-12 9 a side
east final. Ahane were favourites and took a very early lead
with a quick goal followed by 2 more points, it appeared that
it would not be our day, we struggled to get scores but kept
plugging away and at half time we were still in with a chance
in a score of Ahane 1-2 Kilteely/Dromkeen 0-2. Te second half
was a lot more in our favour, we contested every ball blocked
down every shot from the forward line to the goal keeper. It
would not be fair to mention any individuals as it was a great
team display though the performances put in by Brain O'Connell
and Ciaran Daly midfield and Paudie Ahern corner back were heroic,
John O'Mahony put some well taken scores on the board.
An Ahane attacked up the field and stormed in our goal, a fowl
under pressure gave Ahane a penalty, a chance to even the score.
A cool silence tempered in the area around Capppamore as the penalty
was about to be taken.
Many spectators with there eyes closed did not witness the ball
swaying right and harmlessly wide. With that the game was at a
close. There was an invasion of the pitch by proud parents and
supporters, yes the U-12s had brought home the first trophy of
this centuary to Kilteely/Dromkeen with 3 points to spare in a
score of Kilteely/Dromkeen 0-8 Ahane 1-2.
This is the team in the parish that all teams should take inspiration
from with their spirited performances. They have turned out in their
numbers to training since last March, most of the players are
aged
between 8 and 10. They have set the standard for other under
age teams
and in particular for our junior teams. Long may their successes continue
and I hope to see them reaching an east final in the hurling, thouogh
they have a lot of improving to do going on their perfoemance against
Cappamore last Thursday night when we only managed a draw. The team
lined out as follows last Sunday night.
G. Murphy, P Ahern, D. Ahern, K. O'Mahony, B. O'Connell, K. Daly,
M.Ryan, J. O'Mahony S. Holton, D. O'Neil, P. Moloney, D. Murphy,
D. O'Dea, S. Rhodhan, E. Ryan, M. Daly, P. O'Mahony, C. O'Dea,
D. Murphy, E. O'Mahony, M. O'Dea, C. Lyons, D. Holton.
Juvenille training Wednesday at 7pm and Saturday morining at 11 am.
Our junior footballers were victorous over Murroe Boher last Monday
in a score of Kilteely/Dromkeen 3-5 Murroe 2-4. We never looked
like been beaten, though the score only reflected a 4 point margin
we should have won by a lot more with many wides and failed attacks.
There is a lot of improving to happen between now and the first round
of the championship.
There will be a junior hurling game at the weekend a time yet to be
decided.
Regards,
Eoin.
