II. Type:
-
One person motorcycle ground combat mecha, two form Veritech.
III. Service History
- Served with the New Republican Army Tactical Corps, Army Air Corps, and Navy
from 2058 until present.
IV. Propulsion:
- 2 x Westinghouse HIH-2 linear induction hubmotor assemblies, rated at a
maximum 49 hp each.
- Powerplant: RRL-1PX subcompact protoculture-cell energizer.
- Fuel Capacity:
1 standard canister of protoculture.
V. Performance:
- Speed, motorcycle: 220 kph max, 128 kph typical cruising speed.
- Speed, battloid (running): generally dependent on the pilot's ability,
augmented by the CVR-3M boots.
- Speed, battloid (flight): 185 kph, up to a max flight ceiling of 60 m;
approximately 10 m hover.
- Max power output: 98 hp at 16000 rpm
- Range (motorcycle): 380 km.
VI. Electronics:
- Avionica VR-34 short range millimeter radar (3 km range).
- Phillips Miniview UV, IIR and optical sight system with light
intensifier and computer enhancement.
- Harris CT-12B computer targeting system with stereoscopic laser
targeting and HUD in Battloid mode.
- Short range radio.
VII. Armament:
The VR-52 Combatant Cyclone mounts no internal weapons. Armament for all
Cyclone models generally consists of a series of weapons packages; however, any
hand not occupied with a package weapon control can carry any standard-issue
weapon. An unequipped Cyclone is considered the -A
configuration. It is possible to mix components; however, the combat computer
software must be reprogrammed for a custom package to function.
Package systems:
(B model):
-
1 x EP-40A1 40mm particle gun mounted on the right forearm plate.
- 1 x GR-97 dual RPG tube mounted on the
left forearm plate.
(C model):
- 1 x M340E high-definition video recording camera mounted to the right
shoulder hardpoint at all times.
(D model):
- 1 x EP-40A1 40mm particle gun mounted on the right forearm plate.
- 1 x GR-98 triple RPG tube mounted on the left forearm plate.
(E model):
- 1 x EP-40A1 40mm particle gun mounted on the right forearm plate.
- 1 x GR-80 quadruple 40mm grenade launcher mounted on the left forearm plate.
(F model):
- 2 x GR-97 dual RPG tube; one mounted to each forearm plate.
(G model):
- 2 x GR-98 triple RPG tube; one mounted to each forearm plate.
(H model):
- 2 x GR-80 quadruple 40mm grenade launcher; one mounted to each
forearm plate.
(M model):
- 1 x M122MK field medical kit mounted
on the right forearm plate (right front wheel cover) containing numerous
field-expedient medical supplies, including sterile blood-plasma substitutes,
antibiotics, bandages, pressure bandages, burn treatments, and so forth.
- 1 x M132DK field medical diagnostic apparatus.
System is capable of monitoring a wide array of body functions, and includes a
defibrillator and miniature artificial blood circulation and oxygenation system.
(T model):
- 1 x EP-40A1 40mm particle gun mounted on the right forearm plate.
(U model):
- 1 x EP-40A1 40mm particle gun mounted on the right forearm plate.
- 1 x EP-40A2 40mm particle gun mounted on the left forearm plate.
VIII. Armor:
The armor of the Cyclone is composed of an advanced
titanium-steel alloy. The armor on the Combatant stops all small arms fire,
provides fair protection against heavier infantry weapons, such as a 12.7mm
machinegun round, and poor resistance to light mecha-mounted weaponry, such as
the Zentraedi 22.3mm HE autocannon round (though the pilot will be badly
concussed). The armor on all other models is significantly better, but the added
weight reduces the vehicle's maneuverability. Field tests show that a Cyclone
can sometimes withstand two or more blasts from Invid plasma guns. Vulnerable
areas of the pilot are part of the upper arms, which are unarmored. The thighs
and helmet are not protected by the Cyclone, but are covered by the CVR armor.
Nuclear, biological, and chemical protection is limited to that provided by the
CVR armor.
