(Gremlin):
- Naval air group of 32 men
(Gremlin B):
- Naval air group of 40 men

47,230 metric tons (Roadswitcher) |
Fuel Mass: |
8,100 metric tons total |
IV. Propulsion Systems:
(All):
- Maneuvering thrusters (cluster) (11): Flygmotor T-330 fusion-plasma
reaction thrusters with steerable nozzles. Two are located on each side, six
are mounted underneath the hull (with three thrusters each) and one is located
on top of the vessel.
- Maneuvering thrusters (single) (12): Fusion-plasma reaction thrusters with
steerable nozzles. Five are located on each side of the nose behind blast doors
and two are in the side sponsons facing forward.
- Secondary reaction-mass thruster: Westinghouse KYDS-4 secondary fusion-plasma
reaction thruster with protoculture energizer in the lower center rear of the main hull.
- Anti-gravity system (1): 2 RRG Atlas anti-gravity pods.
- Spacefold drive (1): RRG Mk10 spacefold. drive This system generates a
hull-conformal spacefold.
- Planetary Capabilities: The Banshee, Gremlin, and
Roadswitcher have atmospheric capabilities through their reaction thrusters and
anti-gravity system.
The ships' hangar has sufficient strength to let the ship land on it.
Five landing legs can extend from the lower main hull of the Banshee and
Roadswitcher, to support the vehicle, provided the ground surface can carry
the load. If this is not so, then the hull has sufficient structural strength
for the ship to make a belly landing on it.
The Gremlin class has the same landing leg system, but is not capable of
belly landings without crushing the launch chute underneath the ship. Both ships
will float in an ocean, but the main access ports in the lower hull will then be
submerged.
All classes will float in an ocean, but the main access ports in the hangar
will be submerged and inaccessible.
(Banshee, Gremlin before 2060 refit):
- Main power system: RRG Mk. 10 Reflex furnace. The power plant of the
Banshee and Gremlin can deliver up to 45.6 terawatts of power, and
can operate at maximum power for up to 39 minutes before overheating and automatic shutdown.
- Primary reaction-mass thrusters: 2 x Westinghouse RT-80Q
fusion-plasma reaction thrusters with protoculture energizer in the rear of the
main hull and the sponsons.
(New and post-refit ships):
- Main power system: RRG Mk. 32 Reflex furnace. This new powerplant can
provide up to 51.1 terawatts of power, and can operate at maximum power for up to 52 minutes
before overheating and automatic shutdown.
- Primary reaction-mass thrusters: 2 x Westinghouse RT-80Z fusion-plasma
reaction thrusters with protoculture energizer in the rear of the main hull and
the sponsons.
V. Endurance and mobility limits:
- The dry stores endurance is limited to about four months for the Banshee and
Roadswitcher, and eleven months for the Gremlin; after such time the ships will need to restock. Water stores are recycled almost completely.
Hydroponics installations are often installed in slack space, providing the crew
with a small supply of fresh fruits and vegetables, but will be insufficient to
sustain the crew indefinitely.
- The Navy mecha consumables of all classes are very limited; none are able to
sustain combat operations for more than twenty days.
- Ship-launched missile magazines will be empty after one major battle
or one or two small skirmishes.
- The Reflex furnace can function for about 25 years at normal usage levels
before an energizer rebuild is necessary.
- At full power, the main propulsion systems can produce up to 1.13 Giganewtons
of thrust at a minimal reaction mass efficiency profile, or as little as 19.8 meganewtons of thrust at a maximum efficiency setting. At lower power levels,
these thrusts are commensurately smaller.
- At full power, the Banshee class can achieve a maximum
Δ-v of 273 kps at the cruising
acceleration of 0.1 gees, a maximum Δ-v
of 54.6 kps at the battle acceleration of 1.0 gees, and a
Δ-v of at most 15.3 kps at the flank
acceleration of 2.5 gees. At lower power levels, these ranges are commensurately
smaller. As weight increases, a penalty equivalent to the percentage of mass
over the Banshee applies to all other classes.
- The fold systems are not navigationally guaranteed for any single jump
beyond 0.1 kiloparsecs. If longer voyages are required, the ships must conduct
multiple fold jumps.
- The maximum sustained atmospheric speed is Mach 3. The maximum hover time on
the anti-gravity systems is limited only by the protoculture supplies and
maintenance requirements, but the system is too weak to lift the ship against
gravities of more than 1.2g without assistance from the reaction thrusters. In
fact, even at 1.0g the bottom-mounted maneuvering thrusters are often used to
reduce the strain on the anti-gravity systems.
VI. Weapon sytems:
Offensive:
(Banshee, Gremlin pre-2060):
- 6 x PB-4b particle beam system.
This is a 385mm particle beam cannon mounting a protruding barrel in a low-lying
round turret. It can deliver 400 MJ of particle energy every second. Maximum
effective range is 300,000 km. Two of these cannons are mounted on the forward
hull sides, one on the dorsal hull, two on the side sponsons and and one on the
ventral hull.
- PB-5 particle beam system. This is a twin-barreled version of the
PB-4b,
mounted in a hemispherical turret. It can deliver 800 MJ of particle energy
every second at maximum output, with synchronized barrels. Fire rate can be
increased by staggering barrel sequence; however, total energy per salvo is
divided by the total number of barrels. Maximum effective range is 300,000 km.
One of these cannons is mounted forward on the upper hull.
(Banshee, Gremlin post-2060 and B flights):
- 6 x PB-6 particle beam system. This is a 385mm
particle beam cannon mounting a protruding barrel in a low-lying round turret.
It can deliver 600 MJ of particle energy every second. Maximum
effective range is 300,000 km. Two of these cannons are mounted on the forward
hull sides, one on the dorsal hull amidships, two on the side sponsons and and one on the
ventral hull amidships.
- PB-7 particle beam system. This is a twin-barreled version of the PB-6,
mounted in a hemispherical turret. It can deliver 1,200 MJ of particle energy every
second at maximum output, with synchronized barrels. Fire rate can be increased
by staggering barrel sequence; however, total energy per salvo is divided by the
total number of barrels. Maximum effective range is 300,000 km. One of these
cannons is mounted forward on the upper hull.
(Banshee):
-
3 x SMS-10 vertical missile launch system. This is a set of two rows of
five missile tubes set into the ship's hull, firing the Spacelord or Sunlord
SRBMs. Each installation loads ten missiles ready to launch, and a magazine
with 20 reloads, for 90 missiles total. One of these launchers is mounted
forward of the PB-5 or PB-7 mount, and two firing sideways from the sponsons.
(Gremlin):
- 5 x SMS-10 vertical missile launch system. This is a set of two rows
of five missile tubes set into the ship's hull, firing the Spacelord or Sunlord
SRBMs. Each installation loads ten missiles ready to launch, and a magazine with
20 reloads, for 150 missiles total. One of these launchers is mounted forward of
the PB-5 or PB-7 mount, and four firing sideways from the sponsons.
(Roadswitcher):
- LT-15 laser cannon. This is a twin-barreled laser cannon mounting two
protruding barrels in a low-lying round turret. It can deliver 1,500 MJ of laser
pulses every two seconds at maximum output, with synchronized barrels. Fire rate
can be increased by staggering barrel sequence; however, total energy per salvo
is divided by the total number of barrels. Maximum effective range is 300,000 km.
One of these cannons is mounted on the dorsal hull amidships.
- 3 x PB-7 particle beam system. This is a twin-barreled version of the
PB-6, mounted in a hemispherical turret. It can deliver 1,200 MJ of particle
energy every second at maximum output, with synchronized barrels. Fire rate can
be increased by staggering barrel sequence; however, total energy per salvo is
divided by the total number of barrels. Maximum effective range is 300,000 km.
Two of these cannons are mounted on the forward hull sides, and one on the
ventral hull amidships.
- 2 x PB-8 particle beam system. This is a quad-barreled particle beam
cannon in a cubic housing. It resembles a reduced PB-25. It can deliver 800 MJ of
particle energy every second at maximum output, with synchronized barrels. Fire
rate can be increased by staggering barrel sequence; however, total energy per
salvo is divided by the total number of barrels. Maximum effective range is
300,000 km. Two of these cannons are mounted in the side sponsons.
- 3 x SMS-12 vertical missile launch system. This is a set of two rows of
six missile tubes set into the ship's hull, firing the Spacelord or Sunlord SRBMs.
Each installation loads twelve missiles ready to launch, and a magazine with 24
reloads, for 108 missiles total. One of these launchers is mounted forward of
the LT-15 mount, and two firing sideways from the sponsons.
Point defenses:
(Banshee, Gremlin pre-2060):
- 2 x RG-2 Point Defense turret: This is a double
barreled rail gun with a round sensor between the barrels the RG-2 is stored
inside the hull, but elevates upwards from under movable panels into firing
position. The RG-2 fires 0.227 kg KPI rounds at 25 kps, giving the rounds a
kinetic impact energy of 71 MJ. Maximum effective range for this system is 20 km
against mecha sized targets, maximum rate of fire is 120 rounds per minute.
Two of these cannons are mounted in the side sponsons.
- 3 x Oerlikon PD-2 point defense turret. The PD-2 is a double-barreled
laser cannon, with an on-mount multi-spectral sensor. Designed for point defense
against mecha, missiles and small vessels, the PD-2 delivers 50 MJ of laser
energy four times per second. Two of these cannons are mounted on the dorsal hull,
and one on the ventral hull.
(Banshee, Gremlin post-2060 and B flights, Roadswitcher):
- 5 x Oerlikon PD-4 point defense turret. The PD-4 is a quad barreled
laser cannon, with an on-mount multi-spectral sensor. Designed for point defense
against mecha, missiles and small vessels, the PD-4 delivers 40 MJ of laser
energy eight times per second. Two of these cannons are mounted in the side
sponsons, two on the dorsal hull, and one on the ventral hull.
(Banshee, Gremlin post-2060 and B flights):
- 2 x SPS-12 missile launch racks. This is a pepperbox missile launch
system for use with the Warhawk and Wareagle missiles consisting of two rows of
six launch tubes. This launcher must be manually reloaded; however, the mount
can be retracted inside the hull of a ship and reloaded from a storage magazine.
Two of these launchers are mounted on the forward hull sides.
(Roadswitcher):
- 2 x SPS-18 missile launch racks. This is a pepperbox missile launch
system for use with the Warhawk and Wareagle missiles consisting of three rows of
six launch tubes. This launcher must be manually reloaded; however, the mount
can be retracted inside the hull of a ship and reloaded from a storage magazine.
Two of these launchers are mounted on the forward hull sides.
