When Mother Sings To Me
I wrote this one about the time I learned my wife was pregnant with our first child. I thought of a baby in the womb and what he/she finds comforting.
Softly I rock in the silence.
Its dark, but Im not afraid.
With great anticipation I wait.
I know shell soon begin.
Her first words break the stillness.
Throughout this space they resonate.
She sings of hope and angels,
and says that her angel is me.
Her sweet voice takes the worries,
and here inside, Im free.
For now Im safe from trouble.
Her sweet words promise me
that when I do go out
shell still be just as close.
Her tender song continues.
At peace, I drift to sleep.
I dream of how I love her
when mother sings to me.
