Name: Sapphire, named after her grandmother. Her family and friends sometimes call her Sparrow because of her affinity for 'perching' in high places.

Sex: Female.

Age: When I write about her, she's between 14 and 16. The fifth of the five siblings.

Appearance: Lighter-skinned than most of the Romani, but by no means could she be mistaken for a gadge. She has long, curly, dark brown hair and blue eyes. She's short for a woman in her kumpania at about 5'3. She's thin and wiry. She wears a long, white, robe-style dress with embroidery on the long sleeves and on the hems. Over this she wears a leather vest/coat, which has many hidden pockets and such where she keeps her healing supplies. Unlike most of the Romani, she wears leather shoes rather than go around barefoot.

Education: Tia taught her some healing before she died, and later teaches her everything she knows from the Other Side (more on this below).

Occupation: She is the kumpania's healer, an occupation she takes up at a very early age.

Ethnicity: Her mother was 1/4 gadje and her father 1/2. So she's of mixed blood.

Marital status: None. I don't really hook up most of the characters from the third generation. They're here purely for my entertainment.

Children: None.

Significant relationships: Her mother, Mirabella, died when she was about 13. Her father, Galen, died shortly thereafter. Tia, her surrogate grandmother, died when she was around 11 or 12. She has four older brothers who are extremely overprotective of her: Ronek, Brishen, Tobbar, and Durriken. Her best friend and cousin is Kasaiya.

Obsessions: Attempting to live independently. Teasing her brothers.

Beliefs: She had a strong belief that humans continue to exist even after they die. Because of this, when she goes out into nature by herself, she can see those who have passed on and can even speak and interact with them. It is in this way that she learns healing arts from Tia and even gets to meet her grandmother, Sapphire.

Sexual history: None. She's too young and uninterested.

Religion: See "beliefs."

Fears: Never being able to live by herself (because her brothers are too overprotective), losing the rest of her family and friends.

Habits: Plays with her hair when she's nervous.

Personality flaws: She has a great deal of the 'folly of youth' but she's getting older and wiser throughout this arc.

Personality strengths: Level-headed and compassionate.

Favorite possession: Mira gave her Sapphire's engagement ring on her thirteenth birthday, so she could have something that belonged to her namesake. She rarely wears it, but keeps it in a box in her wagon.

Where does this character live: Paris

What does this character want: Independence.

Why does this character want this: Her brothers treat her like a young child and she's tired of it.

What happens as a results of this desire: She becomes a healer at the age of 11 or 12 in an attempt to prove to her brothers that she can take care of herself.

Additional notes: My absolute favorite set of siblings, and the largest set of them as well. Despite all the death that goes on in the original Sapphire's family, she comes out of it pretty well - five grandchildren ain't bad at all, methinks. Also, Sapphire and Ronek are named after their maternal grandparents, which tends to confuse everyone who isn't me. Oops.
