Name: Sapphire, called Songbird on the streets. Sometimes her friends refer to her as Saph, but she hates that.

Age: Average age for one of the Girls, probably around 19
Appearance: Light skin, deep blue eyes, brown curly hair highlighted with gold and darker brown, short for a woman in her kumpania at about 5' even. Wears a great deal of blue to bring out her eyes. Wears them in several layers to hide her skin tone, which neither the Romani nor the gadje ever really accepted.
Education: Taught to read and write by her mother, taught to defend herself after she leaves Calais for the second time.
Occupation: Street-singer.
Ethnicity: Half Romani, half gadje.
Marital status: Relationship with Tehv when she was 15, which ended in her attack. Engaged to Ronek when she is around 21.
Children: Had a child by her attackers when she was 15 or 16 named Berto, who died when he was around 3 or 4 years old. Later she had Ronek's twins, Travois and Mirabella, but only Mira survived the birth. She also has another 'baby' - her pet cat, Gemini.
Significant relationships: Has a younger brother, Lynx, nearly seven years her junior. Her parents, Travois and Marie, were killed when she was 12 and Lynx was 5. Has an aunt - her father's sister - named Etana. Is friends with the girls. Her best friend is Tia. Later she becomes engaged to Ronek.
Obsessions: Her family and friends and her need to protect them from everything.
Beliefs: That family (both blood-related and anyone who is close to her) is the most important thing life has to offer. That independence is to be cherished, but not taken to the extreme of being lonely.
Sexual history: Raped by a group of men when she is 16. Falls in love with Ronek at 19 or 20 and has his children when she is 22 or 23.
Religion: None, though she has a slight Christian base to some of her beliefs (this comes from her mother).
Fears: Being hurt, losing those she loves, letting someone get close to her.
Habits: Cracking her joints, nervous habit of playing with her hair.
Personality flaws: Can be very rude when someone tries to get close to her, was naive when she was younger, paranoid and afraid of new people.
Personality strengths: A caring personality, almost motherly to those she loves deeply, loyal, compassionate.
Favorite possession: Her mother's wedding ring, her own engagement ring.
Where does this character live: Born in Calais, travels all over France between the ages of 12 and 15, moves back to Calais at 15, leaves it at 16, travels France again until she goes to Paris at 19, and after that her life is still in progress. :)
What does this character want: Stability and love.
Why does this character want this: She spent nearly 10 years of her life on the run. She was hurt badly by the first man she ever loved. (Respectively, bien sur.)

Additional notes: Sapphire is my base character, originally an extension of my own personality but no longer recognizeable as such, at least for the most part. Her brother, Lynx, and her grandsons are my favorite males in the universe of these characters. I love Sapphire and her bloodline.
