Name: Kalinda. Some of the Girls call her La Mere (the mother).

Sex: Female.

Age: Older than the Girls, between 23 and 26.

Appearance: Long, straight black hair. Pale skin, though not so pale as to be mistaken for a gadje. Sea-green eyes. Dresses rather conservatively in purples and fuschias. Fairly tall for a woman in the kumpania at about 5'6. Curvy and voluptuous. Takes pride in her appearance.

Education: Like Aiden, she knows how to read and write, but does not publicize this information.

Occupation: She's an artist. She does chalk drawings on the streets for money. People in the kumpania also commission her to do drawings for them.

Ethnicity: Full-blooded Romani. She just got the lightest skin tones of both parents' genes, I guess.

Marital status: Marries Uriah at age 23 or 24, fairly late for a woman in their kumpania.

Children: Her older child is Raini ("RYE-nee"), a girl. Two or three years later, she gives birth to twins - Efrem (boy) and Farica (girl).

Significant relationships: She has a younger brother, Ravi, whom she loves dearly. She is also close to the Girls, but she is closest to Aiden (because they are so similar in nature, I think).

Obsessions: Being motherly, her artwork.

Beliefs: One must be cautious in order to survive.

Sexual history: Has likely had a few flings in her time before she met Uriah.

Religion: None.

Fears: Pain, suffering, loneliness.

Habits: Touching other people, brushing her hair compulsively.

Personality flaws: Sometimes she's too quiet for her own good. She is more of a support than an action-oriented person and that can get her into trouble on the streets.

Personality strengths: Protective and loving. She plays a mothering role to the other Girls, especially since most of their parents have died by the time they reach 20.

Favorite possession: Her collection of colored chalk. She also has two pet dogs, Honey and Latte.

Where does this character live: Paris

What does this character want: A loving, stable family

Why does this character want this: Her father disappeared when she was very young, her mother died when she was about fifteen, and she spent several years after her death searching for her father. She just wants a stable family that's all in one place.

What happens as a results of this desire: She becomes "Mere" to the Girls, she marries and has her own family.

Additional notes: Kalinda was originally Ivory, who belonged to a friend of mine. Ivory was known as the pale skinned gypsy, because despite her skin tone she was full-blooded Romani. I asked for permission to use Ivory and got it, so I took some aspects of Ivory and turned her into my Kalinda.
