Deloris
Many moons ago at a dodgy little pub
known as the Cambridge in Newcastle, Sal (and her two sidekicks – Sebastian
and Daniel) caught up with Marcus from Deloris. Let’s just say that the
use of the word “anyway” was insanely overused and had to be cut to conserve
paper. Well, here it is…
Seb. Can I just ask whether the other
band members get jealous that you get all the interviews?
M. well, it’s never happened
S. you’ve never had an interview
before?
M. No
S. well, I feel privileged. Anyway,
what do you think of Newcastle?
Seb. …. Say it’s a shithole…
M. What’s with no shops being open?
At night on a Friday? I couldn’t believe that…erm…

they basically sum up the Newcastle music scene]

Seb. They’re awful
M. Yeah, I think they fucking suck
Dan. Quaan with 2 a’s gets a whole
bunch of gigs
Favourite gig…
M. that we’ve played?
S. yeah, that you’ve played ever…
M. probably last night was my favourite
gig.
S. and what was that?
M. with Art of Fighting and Purplene
in Sydney, at the Hopetoun. I guess cos we had no idea whether anyone was
going to be there
Seb. Did you get a good crowd?
M. yeah, it was weird, three songs
in I looked at the crowd and it was packed.
S. I really don’t know much about
Deloris at all, but Sebastian was telling me that you have an album out…
M. yes
S. and you’ve recorded another
one…
M. right
S. erm…is that, you know, similar?…
M. no, I think it’s different,
I think it sounds much better
Seb. Have you gone for the Art of Fighting
style or sort of like, Less than a Moment, that stuff?
M. I guess, the benchmark would
be, My Part In The Sinking, Less than a Moment.
What kind of music have
you been listening to lately?
M. Deus, Archers of Loaf, Pond,
Mogwai…yeah, that’s all I can think of….what’s next?…
Seb. Al Gore? (I’m
sure this boy has a strange fetish we don’t want to know about)
