For
12 years these three men filled my afternoons with happiness. Forming in
the early 1960's, Bill and Tim both attending Cambridge University and
Graeme joining soon after. At the time there were various groups of super-heroes
(The Avengers, The Defenders, The Protectors, etc) who all had special
skills to save the world. The guys thought, "that's silly" and so became
The Goodies. Each week they would come up against another world threatening
problem and would always end up winning. Giant kittens, Loch Ness Monster,
pirate post office/radio station, Rolf Harris', moon bunnies and bulldozers
taking over the world. What more could we ask for?
In 1975, for a brief time The Goodies became the "Spice Girls of the 70's"
with four top 10 hit singles, including the famous 'Funky Gibbon', and
an appearance on 'Top of the Pops'.
Today
The Goodies are still friends and claim to be the only group that hasn't
split up with a huge fight. In recent times they have contributed their
voices to suck shows as Bananaman, and look back happily at their succesful
career as the Goodies. With many fans all over the world, i'm sure you
have hold the version of 'Run' by Spiderbait.
