Interview with John Coleman of Pig Ripper Interviewed by Chad Fletcher

1. Can you give me a brief bio on Pig Ripper?

Eric and I were in a band called Entrapment. That band broke up and we joined forces with Jason in August 2004 and that was the start of Pig Ripper. Johnny and Mark joined the band in September and we started writing brutal music together. We are almost done recording our debut "Slaughtered In Slop" album which we hope to release by summer's end.

2. Who are your biggest influences?

Cephalic Carnage is the reason i ever picked up a guitar. I'm also into shit like Anal Blast, Waco Jesus, Mortal Decay and alot of other grindcore, death metal, black metal, hardcore, thrash and even some old-school punk.

3. What are your favorite bands to play with?

Well, we have only played 3 shows so far. Actually, they were parties so they don't even count! We're looking for some contacts so we can get hooked up with some shows. I think we are definately ready to hit the stage with some killer bands. We didn't want to rush into playing shows, and we believe that we are ready. We have amazing chemistry as a band.

4. How would you describe Pig Ripper's style of music?

Fuckin' brutal pig-killing grindcore. It is extremely violent!!!

5. How would you describe your live show?

Again, we have only played at a few parties so far, but i would say that the crowd was digging us. The last party we played got pretty violent. Violence is ALWAYS fun!

6. How would you compare the Denver metal scene to the rest of the country?

It's cool here, but i can't really make a comparison because i have not really been anywhere else. I guess that alot of the bands here really have something that connects them soundwise ya know? There is alot of unity in the local scene here and i love that! I have no respect for bands who do not appreciate their local scene and forget where they come from.

7. What can you tell me about the upcoming release?

Well, it's our debut album so we're pretty excited. There will be 13 tracks of complete violent brutality i guarentee it! I think people will really dig the shit we are writing. Only time will tell.

8. Where do you see Pig Ripper in 5 years?

Kickin' ass and touring across the world. Playing extremely loud shows and recording albums.

9. Any final comments?

Thanks alot for the interview and all the support you have given us, it is much appreciated. Our website is still not finished, so i will leave a link on your forum when it's finally complete.
