| Interview with Jake Pacheco of AnesthesiA Interviewed by Chad Fletcher 1. How and when did AnesthesiA start out? We started around 1996 in high school. It was basically 3 guys who love metal and wanted to headbang. We decided along with headbanging we could try playing instruments as well. 2. Who's currently in the band, and what does each member bring to the table? Steve Abeyta hits the drums and has alot of attitude, which shows in his playing, Nate plays lead guitar and brings confidence in his playing, Aaron lays down the low end for us. He's the over-excited, wanna contact with everyone guy, and me... Well, i yell and try to play guitar. 3. How would you describe AnesthesiA's style of metal? I'd say it's straight-up metal, but none of these sub-genre things. We're just a rock band that's on the heavier side of things. You can hear our influences in our style, and that's something we're not afraid to hide. We know where we came from. When someone says "Yo, yall's style reminds me of Pantera or early Metallica," there is no denying it. 4. How would you describe your live show? Pretty intense, for us at least. We headbang like it's goin' ouuta style. The crowds are always great. We love all ages shows, the kids are always very loud and rowdy. 5. Who are your biggest influences? It ranges from Sepultura to Primus to Atmosphere. Metallica, Pantera, COC, Down, Alice In Chains and stuff like that. 6. Can you tell me a bit about the album you are recording at the moment? Most of the songs appearing on the album have been heard before. Some were on our 2001 demo, and alot of them have only been heard live. There will be 3 or 4 songs that no one has heard yet. We are looking at a 12-13 song album. It's gonna be pretty well rounded, i mean, we have had 8 years experience so you will hear the growth and maturity. 7. How do you think Albuquerque's underground scene holds up to the rest of the country? Well, you probably know more than me, i haven't heard alot of underground from other towns. 8. Where is your favorite place to play live? Well, it doesn't really matter. We enjoy wreckin any place in front of an audience. I guess, any place we don't have to take our own P.A. to is my favorite place to play. 9. What are your favorite bands to do shows with? Well, we haven't really had any bad experiences with any bands, so i like playing with anyone. When you have friends in other bands, it makes it cool, but i'll have to say that Damageplan was the coolest band to gig with. Those guys are a great band, and amazing people. We had a blast each time we got to play and hang out with them. 10. Any plans for a tour in the future? Yups, when we get closer to having the album done we will start traveling through the southwest and expand from there. 11. Where do you see AnesthesiA in 5 years? Hopefully touring our asses off and putting out albums. 12. Any final comments? Spread the word! Our first album is on the way, and it will be UNFUCKWITHABLE, so be ready to down a DIRTY30 and listen to some metal. Peace and love yall. www.stickysthesia.com www.myspace.com/anesthesiawarpath |
