Killilan boxers started 20 years ago. My prefix came from a little town in Scotland. Being born in Scotland, I thought it only right that my breeding name relate to it.

Boxers have always been in my family being my parents love and eventually mine. My mother showed our pet boxer in a show at Alice Springs about 35 years ago and won Best in Show. I think I decided then that I would one day like to do this.

I finally got my first boxer who was a son of Ch Phoenix Jason Argonaut, although only winning a few baby classes I was hooked when that first blue ribbon was placed in my hand. I so admired Jason who was one of Australia's top winning showdogs that I rang his owners and placed an order for a "Show puppy". When he finally arrived in 1983 I remember getting him out of his airline crate and thinking "Oh my God what have they sent me." He was one of the ugliest, most gangly, long nosed boxers I had ever seen, I was even tempted to put him in his crate and send him back. However, I put my trust in the breeders and he turned out to be the biggest winning boxer in Tasmania. Even today some 7 years since he retired from the show ring on a Best in Show, no other boxer has come close to breaking his record. He was Ch Phoenix The Taxman "Bodie" my buddy, my soulmate, my shadow for almost 11 years. His mother was a daughter of another dog I greatly admired, AM Ch Salgrays Minute Man (imp USA). So began my great admiration of the American boxer, which even today I feel far surpass any others.

Many years, many tears and many champions later I still passionately love this breed as does my eldest son Steffan, who has a name for himself as one of Australia's best handlers.

New additions to Killilan in the last 3 years and whom also share my life are Shih Tzus and just recently a 6 year old Skye Terrier who at the moment is taking the Terrier Group by storm winning 7 best in groups and one runner up in group in his last 9 shows including the Launceston Royal on 13th October 2000. He is Ch Santlin Sqwizzy Taylor and I thank Maureen Cartledge for entrusting this truly beautiful and outstanding dog to me, he is as devoted to me as was The Taxman.

All very different in their ways, these are truly 3 wonderful breeds of dog to live with.
