Ballygar - The Local Village
Killeroran Holiday Home is situated 1.5 km from the village. It is located beside Aughrane state forest, which adjoins a more extensive forest covering many thousands of hectares.  The locality provides an endless supply of forest walks with an abundance of  Flora and Fauna including Wild Deer. A large expanse of bog, both raised and harvested can be seen on most of the approach roads to the village. The bog provides many walks and has a copious supply of its own Flora and Fauna. Turf is still harvested by the local people for use in their domestic heating systems.
Fishing on the local fresh water lakes and rivers provides unparalleled exposure to large stocks of Pike, Perch, Trout, Bream and Eel. Salmon are also caught, mainly on the Suck and Shiven. Ballygar has many pubs, shops, a family-run hotel and a bank with an ATM facility.

Killeroran Holiday Home: The Structure
The 70 year-old, two-storey house is built on the site of the old, thatched residence,  home to the Egan family, where they farmed for generations. The present structure is built of limestone, thus the thick walls. Slight internal renovations were carried out some years ago, with great care taken to maintain the old farmhouse features.
