Maury
Today on “MAURY”, the TV show,  they featured kids 8 and 9
years old who had some special problems.  What were these
problems?  One 9 y.o. boy had climbed up on his mothers bed
during the night and held a knife to her throat for punishing him.
The idea of the show and about 200 others that have been on this
year was to send the kids to boot camp.  After boot camp the kids
come back to the show very docile and happy to be with mommy
and willing to quit all trouble. This has helped every time for every
kid they have sent.  My question is, why?
Why does boot camp help straighten up these kids?  Let us take
a look at what boot camp does to these kids.
1. Lock them in for the night.
(Parents used to ground the kids, until the parents began to get
charged with “False Imprisonment”.  Other wise we could lock a
child in their room like the folks at Boot Camp”.)
2. They get in the child’s face and yell at them, they even take
turns at it.
( For a parent that is called “VERBAL ABUSE”  and we go to jail
for it.)
3.  At boot camp the kids do multiple exercises tell they drop in
exhaustion.
( This is called “Physical Abuse”.  Again a parent can go to jail for
this.  The Department of Human Resources is very much against
plans 1, 2, and 3.)
4.  The kids are given counseling, they are not giving a chance to
say no and stay home.
Counseling is a opportunity but not a requirement.  Except for the
parents,  the kids can skip it but if the parents do they, you guessed
it, go to jail.)
I just find it amazing that boot camp works so well for these kids.
Maybe if parents could parent again we would not have to send our
kids to boot camp.  I think Maury is doing a great job of straighting up some bad kids before they become bad adults and I applaud him.  I just hope someone else sees the light before darkness befalls al of us.
