Mosquito's are a real pain.  Here is my way of dealing with them
Buy a good insect repellent.  My favorite is Deep Woods Off.
I also use a product called Mosquito Free Insect Killer by Dexol.  It also kills Grubs, Crane Fly's, and Ticks.  It is safe to use in the yard around kids and lasts about 2 weeks.  I found it at Menards.
Keep a bite stick handy.  You can find them at most stores.  It rolls on and helps stop the itching.
If you are going into heavy mosquito country wear long sleeves and buy a head mosquito net.
If you want your baby out side remember to get some mosquito netting to cover the entire play pen. DO NOT LEAVE A BABY IN THE SUN FOR ANY TIME PERIOD.

Ticks
Ticks can cause a lot of problems too.  They can cause infections and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. (AKA in Brazil as San Paulo fever)
Never remove a tick on your own unless you know what you are doing.
      1.  Make sure you get all of the tick out. do not just pull on it or you will leave the head on it and push all the fluids from the tick into the human.
      2. If you develop any of these symptoms =
rash around the wrists and ankles, a headache, nausea or vomiting during the next three to four days seek medical help.  Tell the doctor that you took out a tick and when.
      3. If the area becomes red or infected seek medical help.

Chigoe (AKA chiggers)
These varmints bite around your ankles and lower legs most of the time but can bite all over your body.  They leave tiny red marks and itch like crazy.  I cover the area with chigger creams and treat with an anti itch cream. To prevent them cover the ground with a blanket before sitting on it or lying down  on it.  They tend to nest in areas where the ground cover is dead like under trees.
