Seneca's Way
The Continuing Story of a Former Race Horse
Seneca Wind came in to my life through a combination of fate and a few caring people. She had been a race horse but chance and a racing accident meant that Seneca needed a new home where she could heal and hopefully learn to be a different kind of horse.

This page is dedicated to Seneca's story and all thoroughbreds who have transitioned from the life of a race horse in to other disciplines.
Seneca's Diva Shots
Seneca's Journal
Seneca has been with me a little over a month now as I picked her up from Bowie, Maryland the last weekend in May. The only thing she's been doing is learning how to be a regular everyday horse, and putting her diva days at the race track behind her. I've introduced her to lots of new things like cross-ties, pasture buddies, and grass.

It took her a little over a week to manuver her way in to the small herd of horses at my friend Erin's farm. Other than Seneca there are two young Arabian geldings, a Breeding Stock Paint mare, and a pony mare who's ancestory is always up for debate.  Like all new members of the herd Seneca had to earn her way in. There were a few cuts, and scrapes, but eventually Seneca earned the love of the Alpha mare, and now they are very attached to one another.  Seneca is middle of the pack as far as herd hierchy goes. She's just above the two Arab geldings, but below the other two mares and she's very non-confrontational. She'd rather walk away then pick a fight, which I'm glad of.
