VIII - SCORING
Players appearing on a starting lineup will be eligible to score points for that week.  All points scored by players in the starting lineup are added up for the team's final score.  This score is compared to the opposing team's score to determine the winner of that game.  Points will be awarded to players in the following situations:

Offensive scores - All players who occupy a starting lineup position which is considered part of the offense (QB, RB, WR, K) will receive points for the following achievements:

6 points for every rushing TD under 50 yards - 12 points if 50 yards or more

3 points for every receiving TD under 50 yds - 6 points if 50 yds or more

3 points for every passing TD under 50 yds - 6 points if 50 yds or more

2 points for every rushing 2 point conversion

1 point for every receiving 2 point conversion

1 point for every passing 2 point conversion

1 point for every 25 yards rushing during a game

1 point for every 25 yards receiving during a game

1 point for every 75 yards passing during a game

1 point for every successful Extra Point kicked

3 points for every successful Field Goal under 45 yds - 6 pts if 45 yds or more

Clarifications and Examples:

1) Yardage types can not be combined for points.  Example: If Joe Smith has 24 yards rushing, 24 yards receiving, and 74 yards passing in a game, then he gets no yardage points.

2) All players in an offensive position on the lineup are eligible for all offensive award types.  Example:  Joe Smith is in the lineup as a Kicker.  On this particular day he kicks 2 extra points (+2), kicks 3 FGs one which is 49 yards (+12), fakes a FG attempt and runs in for a touchdown (+6), which happens to give him 26 yards rushing on the day in 2 carries (+1), and runs in a 2 point conversion after a bad snap (+2).  In all, Joe has scored 23 points for his fantasy team that week.

3) A player who achieves more than one award type on a single play will receive all applicable points.  Example: Joe Smith rushes for a 50 yard TD. He receives 12 points for the TD, and the 50 yards rushing give him another 2 yardage points.  Total gained on the play = 14 points.

4) Players in an offensive roster slot receive points when they score for the defense (TDs & safeties), but do not receive points for turnovers, sacks or shutouts.  Example: Joe Smith, who is listed as a WR/DB in the NFL, catches 2 TD passes during the game (+6), his yardage total for the game comes out to 99 yards receiving (+3).  While playing DB he also returns an interception for a TD (+6), but he does not get an extra point for the interception itself.  Total points scored on the day = 15.

5) Owning a Defensive team does not give the owner offensive points for that team's defense players.  Example:  The Divided Instabilities have started the Miniscule Playthings as their DT for the week.  One of the members of this defense is "Refrigerator Repairman Jerry", who on a fourth and goal with inches to go, is called in to play the FB position for the offense.  He scores a TD and the owner of the Divided Instabilities wants 6 points.  But, because the owner does not have "Jerry" in an offensive lineup position, let alone on the roster as an individual, he receives no points.

Defensive scores - A defensive team consists of not only a team's defense but also much of its special teams.  Points are awarded to a DT in the following situations:

6 points for an interception returned for a TD

6 points for a fumble returned for a TD

6 points for a kickoff or punt returned for a TD

2 points for a safety

10 points for a shutout

1 point for an interception

1 point for a fumble recovery

.5 (half) point for a sack

Clarifications and Examples:

1) Field goal units, extra point units, and 2 point conversion units which are on the team which possesses the ball at the snap (the offense) are not part of the DT, and therefore are not eligible for DT scoring.  Individuals on these units are, however, eligible for offensive points.  Example:  The Divided Instabilities have again started the Miniscule Playthings as their DT.  This week Miniscule is attempting a FG, the snap is bad and the holder is forced to run in for a TD.  The owner wants 6 points for his DT, but he will not get them.

2) Punting units (offense) are only eligible for defensive points if the ball has changed possession.  Example:  Miniscule punts the ball, the opposing team receives and moves up the field where the ball carrier fumbles, the ball is picked up by a member of the Miniscule team who runs in for a TD.  The DT owner is awarded 6 points for the TD and 1 point for the fumble recovery.  If however, possession does not changes as in the case where Miniscules punter bobbles the snap, then runs in for a TD, no points are awarded.

3) If an owner starts a player in an offensive position, and starts the Defensive Team which that player is also on, and that player scores while in a defensive position, the owner is awarded points for both lineup positions. However, he is not entitled to duplicate non-scoring defensive points since offensive players are not eligible for those (see Offensive clarification #4 above)  Example:  Dijon Mustard who is a WR/DB for the Phallic Cowgirls manages to intercept a ball and score a TD while in his defensive role.  On this particular week, The Divided Instabilities have started Dijon in the WR slot and Phallic as his Defensive team.  The Divided Instabilities will receive 12 points for the TD but only 1 for the interception itself.

4) The end result of a play must be a change of possession in order for a turnover to count towards defensive points.  Examples: Joe Schmo intercepts the opposing quarterback and is tackled at the spot.  The result is 1 defensive point.  But if Joe Schmo intercepts, runs for 16 yards, then fumbles the ball back to the other team, the result is 0 defensive points.

5) A single play can never result in more than one turnover point regardless of the number of times the ball changes possession during the play.  Example: A DB intercepts the opposing QB, then fumbles back to the opposing team's RB, who runs for 3 yards before fumbling the ball back to the defense.  The result is only 1 defensive point.
