| III - OWNERSHIP |
| Ownership of a team within the league can be obtained in one of several ways. Returning owners are automatically eligible for ownership if they choose to retain it. New people interesting in joining the league may either purchase an existing team from an owner who does not wish to continue, or may apply for an expansion team. All applications for new ownership, whether through purchase or expansion, must be approved by a majority vote of voting owners. If the league already has 4 or more teams, expansion must be by twos in order to maintain scheduling integrity. If only one person can be found for expansion, then expansion must wait for the following season. Expansion issues should be resolved one month prior to the draft. Team ownership has several responsibilities. It is important that owners understand and fulfil these responsibilities so that everyone can enjoy participating in the league. The primary responsibilities are as follows: 1) Draft attendance - If you accept ownership, or renew ownership within the league it is VERY IMPORTANT that you attend the First Draft. If you do not attend, you will automatically loose your team, and the league will become unbalanced. Note: If for some reason you can not attend, you may appoint a proxy to stand in for you. By doing so, you will not loose your team. It is recommended that this proxy not be another existing team owner in the League. If your proxy is such an owner, the other owners may object and vote to disallow the proxy. Attendance is not required for any Supplemental Drafts. 2) Financial - By participating in the First Draft of a season you agree to pay your portion of Draft Day expenses as defined under section V below. You also agree to pay a portion of the prizes and awards for the year in which you participate. Your percentage will be based on your place within the standings at the end of the year. You must pay that percentage of the following year's draft party regardless of whether you plan to renew ownership. League Champion pays 0% and therefore has no further obligation if ownership is not renewed. Financial obligation to the following year's party can be transferred to another person in the case of an approved team sale. 3) Participation - It is also VERY IMPORTANT that you participate in the league. Each week of the season, owners must submit a starting lineup for their team (see section VII for details). If an owner fails to submit a lineup on a regular basis, it lessens the enjoyment for others in the league. Your opponent for a given week does not get the same pleasure in kicking your *** that he would otherwise. It also unbalances the league in that while others are playing hard fought games, someone gets the easy win against the guy who does not care. It is poor sportsmanship to discontinue participation because your team is not doing well. It is understood that occasionally things happen and an owner is unable to submit a lineup, this is not a problem. However, an owner who fails to submit a lineup on three occasions during the same season will be subject to an expulsion vote. Expulsion from the league due to lack of participation only requires a majority of votes from the other voting owners. |
