| Greetings Great Lord of the Eshin, It is I, Krekazz FilthBearer, bringing word from the City of the Damned. I must once again thank you for the sparing of my life and the chance to win greater glory for the Horned Rat. The Blight of the Lost reached the city, by way of the underground sewers, not less than a week ago and already there has been a great victory! Our way into the city was planned in error as the Sisters of Sigmar encampment had moved since my last time in the city. As we approached the city, we became aware that we were entering an area of the city reserved for the dead. Knowing the chances of encountering minions of death, I sent in the Pox Nauts as Scouts. The Nauts returned bearing great news. They had located three buildings that were sure to contain the holy stone of the Horned Rat. But the Undead had already begun to march on the buildings. We raced onto the ruined block and quickly identified the three buildings, low moans and growling told us of the Undead presence. The fools they give themselves away, they know not the beauty of night stalking quiet. I led the Pox Nauts and Nyoki Pestil into the first building in an attempt to hold it from the start. I sent the VileBile brothers and the Serrated Ones into the main road to attempt to grab the remaining buildings. My unit spread out into the building until we noticed that there was the foul stench of death coming from the north corner. I immediately exercised my keen strategical mind and spread the team. I and Pestil swung out of the building on a flanking maneuver as the Nauts covered our approach with their slings. The VileBile brothers split forces upon reaching the main road. Vizuul, with his claws, took the Clawed One and hung outside the building we had claimed looking for those rotting losers to show their disgusting faces. Mekikina took the Serrated Ones and spread to the east attempting to swarm the far building. A chilling howl informed them that the Undead Beasts of Hell had arrived before them. They held position and surveyed the situation. At this time, my flanking maneuver succeeded in flushing out the zombie spawn from the building we had claimed. Seven of the foul mockeries stumbled from the ruins to escape the foul spears of the Pox Nauts. My flanking maneuver was masterful. Pestil and I unleashed our slings and slew all but one of the poor creatures as it limped in the direction of its master. We continued the flank and had the chance to see a bolt of black armor and white skin. I knew that we had flushed out the evil lord behind the warband. Mekikina and the Serrated Ones had slain at least five, No! fifteen other zombies by this time and they saw the Demon Dogs and their master, a powerful Necromancer, approach the position. Mekikina held his position even as he heard a regrouping of the foul Undead to his flank. His brother Vizuul saw his predicament and flew into the face of the zombies and rended scores of them with his Fighting Claws. The Clawed One slew a dreaded Dreg of the Undead in face to face combat. The Dreg was extremely overpowering but my Skaven warrior held to the teachings of Clan Eshin and slayed the foul monster. At this time my flanking was complete, I could see my beleaguered men as they fought for the lives. There was a hoard of Undead in my way and I looked to Pestil, he knew my mind and together we slammed into the rear of the shambling zombies. Flesh flew and steel ran black with gore as we fought our way to our Skaven brothers. The Pox Nauts served us well as they held the building and delivered volley after volley of deadly shot through windows and cracks that our miniscule brethren would find hard to crawl through. Their marksmanship was masterful and reflected their excellent training in the Halls of Death. As I fought my way through to my fellow assassins, I saw the dreaded Vampire race out from the shadows to backstab poor Mekikina... even his lightning speed was no match for the Undead Lord. He was pierced on the bone white blade of the Vampire. The evil Lord turned and fought his way to the rear of the other VileBile, as fighting claws lashed around the vampire slashed. A deep wound erupted from the back of Mekikinas brother. My Lord, I lost my mind at that point. I do not remember much, my warband tells me that I became like a madman, a fighting spirit. They tell that I mowed through the ranks of Ghouls, Zombies and Dregs killing the enemy by the handful. I fought my way to the great lord of the Undeath and assaulted with the ferocity of the Horned Rat!! It was quite a battle I am told, but all I remember is the red curtain of rage passing from my eyes and seeing before me the broken and mutilated body of the Vampire Lord. At this point I gazed around and saw the carnage before me. We had dealt a mighty blow to the Undead that night. It was then that I noticed the remaining Zombies leaving the fight. The nefarious necromancer was recalling them all and they ran from our wrath. Soon it was only Skaven and the ruined bodies of our enemies. With the brothers down, I had no choice but carry their bodies from the battlefield to be placed in honor beneath the sewers of the city. My Lord, we won a glorious battle against the vicious Undead that night. The cost was high as Mekikina has seriously injured and the wound appears to be infected. And I am afraid that Vizzuul is lost to this world. My brave companion who survived the first campaign into this city will not live to see our triumphant return. Also, a Verminkin whose name I forget has died as well. My Lord, I counted for two Skaven deaths and one injury that we had slain at least 84 Zombies, 11 Ghouls, 8 Dire Wolves and of course the leader, the Vampire Lord. It was truly a great victory. I must press our advantage My Lord; you must send me a new clawman and henchman to replace my losses. Hurry, for I have planned an evil raid upon the proud Reiklanders and need the full strength of my warband. Farewell my Great Lord and give my regards to the Lords of Decay, I go forth for the glory of Clan Eshin. Faithful in Life as in Death, Krekazz FilthBearer Adept of the Blight of the Lost <HANDWRITTEN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LETTER> My Lord, it is I, Pestil, your eyes and ears on this journey. Believe not the transcript above. The battle was well fought and the Adepts plan decent but I counted only three injuries to the Undead. We were outnumbered, and did manage to injure the Vampire but it was a lowly Verminkin who did so... It cost him his life and so I ask that you pray to the Horned Rat that he may always have cheese and fresh flesh to munch on in the Great Sewer in the Sky. The Vampire Lord was injured gravely but I fear that he will be back for revenge. Please send reinforcements, perhaps my cousin would join us? And where is the Sorceror? In faith, Nyoki Pestil |
