FINN HARPS 2-0 KILDARE COUNTY

A ninth minute red card meant that this game was almost over from the start. County 'keeper Wayne Russell received his marching orders after colliding with Niall Bonner just outside the box. This also meant Shay Zeller's game was over as he had to be substituted to allow Kildare to bring on Tadhg Murphy.

Kildare battled well with 10 men, but Bonner further enraged Kildare fans as he scored a simple goal from a McGrenahan long ball in the 23rd minute. After this Keely changed the formation of his ten men and Kildare fought back. Both sides came close to increasing the scoreline with Boyle on target for Harps and Kelly for County. Philip Hughes also had a penalty claim turned down.

Both teams came out strong in the second half, but neither team was able to create any clear-cut chances. Finn Harps killed off the tie with four minutes to go when Tom Mohan scored a rebound.

Kildare fought hard, but with ten men for the majority of the match, it was almost certain that Finn Harps would come away with maximum points.
