MATCH REPORT
KILDARE COUNTY 0-1 BRAY WANDERERS This match was billed as a clash of the titans, as both teams are battling for promtion this year, but failed to live up to expectations. Bray were missing two players, and County were favourites going into the game. The first chance of the match fell to the home side, but Ben Whelehan's shot sailed over the crossbar after an Alan McNevin corner. Purdy had headed the ball down for Whelehan, but unfortunately his shot rose above the Bray goal. The best chance of the half came in the 32nd minute, again for the home side. Barry O'Connor flicked the ball past Lynch before laying it off to Zeller, whose shot was saved superbly by Wanderer's keeper O'Connor . The game was scoreless at half-time, and the fans hoped the match would severly improve after the break. But there was no luck there, and the second half was almost the same as the first, with the ball staying in the air, and the long ball being implemented. Bray scored the only goal of the game in the middle of the second half when Gormley scored a scrappy goal. A Bray corner was poorly defended which Gormley got on the end of, but the ball deflected off Purdy and ended up in the County net. Keely brought Alan Kelly on to add to the attack, but he didn't convert his chances and the match ended 1-0 with Bray moving up to 2nd in the table, and Kildare back to 4th.
