Basketball.
It was a great start to the new season[2000-2001] when both the men and the ladies teams got of to a winning start by winning the All County Blitz held at home in the new Community Center.
Both teams had a 100% record for the day, with the men winning four games and the ladies winning five games.
Men's Section.
The men started off in the first round by beating LYIT and Milford in the first round matches. This meant they won Group A and then progress to meet the runner-ups of the Group B, Letterkenny's Ulster league team who they beat by two points in a very close game.
Ballyshannon who won Group B beat Milford also by two points in the other semi-final. This set up for a gripping game between two bitter rivals. The game was played in front of a very large home crowd as the news spreed through the town that both the men and ladies teams had progressed to the finals. The men played a good physical game (being particular strong under their own boards) and won the match comfortably by seven points.
Ladies's Section.
The ladies had three first round games and were convincing winners in all(beating Killybegs,X,Y).
They played Z in the semi-finals an proved too strong for the oppostion. In the final they also were up against arch rivals Ballyshannon. The first half was a keenly fought contest with the teams being tied at half time. The second half was much the same but Kilcar rallied near the end to take the title.
NB The club are very greatfull to the management of the Community Center for the use of the facilities for the day, the people who provided the refreshments and the great support shown by the people who came to watch.
This page will track the progress of both teams for the coming season, with at the very least the results of all the games.
