Brief History: From being born in Beirut to Patricia and Samuel, Keanu Reeves then lived with his family in Australia for one year, where his younger sister Kim was born in 1966. His mother and father soon got divorced and Samuel went to Hawaii.
Patricia took Keanu and Kim to live in New York City, where she met and married Paul Aaron, a broadway and Hollywood director.
They all then moved to Toronto and took up Canadian citizenship (which Keanu still retains). Patricia and Paul also divorced a year later. Two more husbands would follow: a rock and roll promoter Robert Miller (with whom Patrica had Keanu's seond [half] sister Karina in 1976); and the fourth husband would be Jack Bond, a hair salon owner, whom she divorced also in 1994. Patricia now works as a costume designer.
Keanu's last visit to his true father was at the age of 13 in Hawaii. In 1994 Samuel had a ten year prison sentence for cocaine possesion. He was paroled in mid 1996.
Keanu describes himself as a "Middle class boy. A bourgeois, middle-class white boy with an absent father, a strong willed mother, and two beautiful younger sisters."
At a young age, Keanu had his mind set on hockey and theater. He would mix the two by reciting Shakespeare while tending goal during a hockey game. He started acting in Toronto during High School, and began landing roles in plays and commercials.
Keanu was also a high school dropout. "He wasn't quite, well...with it," a former teacher of Keanu has said. "He always left his books at home or forgot his homework. But he'd just smile and go back home to get it."
After attending several different high schools, Keanu dropped out to pursue acting full time at age seventeen. |
