January 26,2004 was a very busy day. I had to effect an automated email delivery feature in one of my vb applications. This was done by running a web page via msninet control that contains server side scripts invoking cdonts. Also had to add some field to that other program I'm working on.

Weekend was a bore too. Saturday, saw Tom Cruise's Last Samurai. Same old theme, white guy can do anything ...even become samurai. What's funny is that the movie tried telling us that samurais are noble honorable protectors of their people, and all those people bowing their heads as the column of samurai enters the village, did it out of respect. Fuck that!. Those samurais maybe honorable but they sure as shit aint noble. Samurais are above everything, and obedience to their lord's orders is their reason for exitence. In ancient Japan, there are samurais and there are others. A samurai can test the sharpness of his sword by cutting a non-samurai in two and it wont be a crime. To a samurai, people who are not samurai, are shit. They exist only to provide samurai with provisions so they can continue being samurai. They can boil non samurai people alive, do all sorts torture, use them as targets for arrow practice and it still ok cause its their right. Why do you think they clammed up, forbid contact with foreigners after they found out foreigners brought gunpowder? Because gunpower means the end of the samurai. No longer can a military elite rule over a population due to their superior swordsmanship and archery skills. Gunpowder will change warfare for them, massed firepower will overwhelm the samurai's advantage in individual skill at arms.
