Anytime Kiko Ellsworth (Jamal, Port Charles) wants a new 'do, he just gets out the scissors and starts snipping away. "I've been messing up my hair for a long time," says Kiko, who recently gave himself a makeover into what he dubs a "twists untwisted" look. "When I was a kid, about 11 or 12, my buddy, Kevin Hurley and I used to always cut each other's hair and experiment, although Kevin would always mess mine up. He'd cut one side completely different from the other side. It would be totally uneven. He'd always blame it on the shape of my head, but it was him messing up." And that's how Kiko learned hair damage control. "I got my own clippers and began cutting away, evening things out," he says, noting that he became quite adept at doing his own trims. "As long as I've got a couple of mirrors, I'm fine. I comb my hair out into an Afro, line it up, and cut it." You won't see Kiko visiting a barber. "Call me...I don't want to say I'm cheap, but I'm very economical with my money. Where I don't need to spend it, I don't think I should have to," he says.
