January 4, 2005 - Trying to cope in the new year as I received news of the death of Grace Magill yesterday evening. She was so amazing, and I can't believe we have to live in a world without her. I know she must have been hurting to have taken her own life at age 15, but I wish that I could have done more to help her. I'll never forget her and I know that many more won't either.
Updates - 2005
January 23, 2005 - Gracie's funeral was last week in San Francisco. It was an amazing ceremony with standing room only at the Grace Cathedral. It was absolutely a celebration of her short, but full life. She will be deeply missed.
March 19, 2005 - My computer has finally been fixed after Steve came into town for his spring break. He's a computer genius. Anyway, my spring break is coming up next week and I'm going to Kansas City. Things have been going well since January, but I could use a break.
March 28, 2005 - Spring Break is in full swing and I love it. We've gone shopping, eaten good food, relaxed, watched movies, read books. It's been great. I have a lot of things to take care of when I get back to Detroit, but for now, I am taking it easy.
April 3, 2005 - Back to school tomorrow and I am not excited. I looked for jobs yesterday on the internet, there are a few possibilities. Job fairs are coming up in a few weeks too. Hopefully something good will happen!!
April 13, 2005 - I'm engaged! Russ and I have been talking about buying a house that we absolutely love, trying to budget our money. He came clean on Monday because he admitted he'd been saving, but for a ring. We were trying to make a decision whether to get married now and buy a house later or vice versa. So he apparently went to the jewelry store on Tuesday after work and bought the ring on a whim (see pictures!) and picked it up after work on Wednesday. I, of course, had woke up late for work that day, so I looked lovely sitting on the couch watching Malcolm in the Middle when he got home. He knelt down on the floor in front of me and put his head in my lap. I figured he'd had a hard day at work. He told me that he had been thinking about me all day and that he felt bad putting me in a position to choose between a house and getting married. So he said he made the decision for me, and that's when he pulled out the ring box. After crying and hugging, I finally opened the box and put on the ring.
August 21, 2005 - Wedding plans are coming along well, see the wedding page for more details. I have a new job as the before and after school director at Novi Woods Elementary. I start tomorrow! Summer was a lot of fun, going to L.A. for Catherine's wedding, going to Germany, and hanging out with our friends here. I am very glad to have a new job though!
November 23, 2005 - I just got hired as the new Kindergarten teacher at Parkview Elementary in Novi! I'm so excited, and will start in my new classroom on December 5th. I will be getting about 6 kids from each of the current half day classrooms to alleviate class size. I can't believe I'm returning to Kindergarten after all this time, but ti couldn't be more perfect!
