REASONS TO LIKE LEORIO

Leorio is probably the most misunderstood character in Hunter X Hunter. The viewers tend to judge him by his appearance and his role as the blundering comic relief. However, if we were to focus on his good traits, we'd realize that there's more to him than meets the eye, and he's actually a character very worthy of praise. Here I've compiled some reasons as to why Leorio should be liked. He's street smart! He wouldn't be caught dead roaming around aimlessly even in a big city such as Yorkshin.
He can get GREAT deals and bargains. He even claims he can get things for free if he wants to!
He's the most hygienic, elegant and professional looking of the 4. He carries all his stuff in his handy-dandy suitcase.
He's sincere and determined. He recognizes his weaknesses but he compromises for them thus improving himself.
Even if he knows he isn't much of a fighter unlike his other 3 comrades, he won't allow himself to remain ineffectual.
He'll do anything to help out, fighting or not. (Remember the cell phone thing in the hotel? His existence proved to be very valuable during that time)
He's very funny, but still has a serious side. He really is concerned about his friends that he even thought of becoming a hunter, which is very dangerous and not an easy thing to do just so he could make up for Pietro's death. He's even blaming himself for it even though it wasn't his fault.
People just see him as a playboy, greedy, stupid and heck, some even call him "monkey". But he may just be hidinghis feelings by covering it up with his "monkey" personality. He has a very sad past and he just doesn't want people to know or worry about it.
A lot of people say that he's ugly but they're just referring to how he looks when he's face would get all deformed. In his normal state, he's quite good-looking. His face often gets deformed because he's a very humorous characterand those comical expressions are for a hilarious effect. And no offense to the fans of the other three main charas,but out of the four, he's the only one who actually looks like a real MAN. Killua and Gon are still kids, hence more appropriate under the "cute" classification, whereas and Clapika is attractive more in the feminine side.
The fact that he became a hunter makes him an admirable character. Sure, he only passed the final test because of a technicality when Killua got disqualified, and he's not really a great fighter; he gets tricked easily and he's just tailing behind Killua, Clapika and Gon but, still, he passed when other "strong and more worthy" people didn't.
Among the four of them, he has the noblest purpose for being a hunter. Gon's undoubtedly the most good-hearted,but for now, he just wants to find his father, which is quite a personal reason. Clapika, meanwhile, wanted the job for revenge, and Killua just took the exam to have fun. Leorio, however, aspired for the title so that he could be a skillful doctor and cure the sick for free. Now THAT'S a generous ambition.
Senritsu once said Leorio's heartbeat has a very nice sound. It's in the part where Clapika kidnapped Kuroro and thefour of them are in the car. Leorio may be the one with the best control over his temper.
There may be more reasons which we may have overlooked, but I think these are enough. I hope that by this list, people out there would reconsider their opinions and begin to favor Leorio better than before.
