| Born: 11/27/77 Birthplace: Bremerton, Washington Height: 5'11" Weight: 185 Position: 2B Bats/Throws: Right/Right College: Arizona State MLB Debut: September 1st, 2002 Willie Bloomquist spent most of the 2002 season at AAA Tacoma, and then was called up in September. He sure did make a great impression on the Mariners management, and the fans. He made his debut as a pinch-runner in a game against Kansas City. He had a .455 batting average with 10 runs, 4 doubles and 7 RBIs in seven starts from Sept. 22-29. He went 4-for-4 with two doubles and 2 RBIs in second career start in 3-2 win vs. Anaheim. He was named the Tacoma Rainiers Most Valuable Player. Willie lives in Peoria, Arizona with his wife, Lisa. He graduated from South Kitsap HS in Port Orchard in 1996. He also was all-state and all-league MVP in baseball. Was drafted out of high school in the eighth round of the 1996 draft by Seattle, but chose to accept a scholarship to Arizona State University |
