The veteran outfielder has been in the majors for sixteen years. He was on the 1988 Okaland Atletics that won the world series. Last year he broke up Jaret Wrights no hit bid with a sinlge on April 26th, 2000 vs Cleveland. He tied a career high and club record for hits in a game with 5 on August 6th, 2000 vs New York. He had a key sacrafice bunt in the bottom of the ninth inning in the third game of the ALDS vs Chicago in their 2-1 victory. On August 1st, 2000 he started in right field and moved to first base. It was the first time since 1997 he had played first base.

Stan was very important to the Mariners' success last season, and because of nagging injuries decided to retire. He will be greatly missed, and is planning on planting trees in the Dominican Republic.

Stan Javier lives in Santo Dominigo, Dominican Republic with his wife Genoveva and their kids Carla, Marcel and Ines Marie. He's the son of former Major leager Julian Javier who was an infeilder for the St. Louis Cardinals.
